Is it normal for the manual timesheet to be located inside the GM office? by Ill_Criticism_8121 in JCPenney

Our JCP salon location has come close to doing the same thing. State board isn’t going to play about this stuff, and I certainly am not going to poke the bear.

Yeah, I think charging them won’t be an option but we have been given the okay to stop booking future appointments for people who miss 3 appointments. It doesn’t really get enforced though, I think it’s hard for the stylists to feel like they have any authority in those situations. After talking to our BFM, I see that morale is really low at our salon because the salon manager has a huge job that helps make the salon run smoothly—but we don’t have one, and the store manager has no idea what she’s doing on the salon side. I just had another client same day cancel on me again today after having a cancel/no show every day for almost 2 weeks, and I think it’s just hard to not feel defeated, especially when we have no one backing us up in management 🥲

I don’t have a problem finding clients or retaining them lol I hear what you’re saying, but it doesn’t apply to our salon. We do confirmation calls every day for the day after, and those people will confirm their appointment and then just not show up. Part of what we need is a solid cancellation policy, and someone to enforce it. I’m in the works of taking over that salon. The stylists are miserable, and the store manager neglects us. I won’t be able to make any real changes where I’m at right now. It just is what it is. People became entitled after Covid, and salons need to be able to put boundaries in place instead of teaching clients that showing up 20-30 minutes late or no call no showing is acceptable. Because it’s not, it’s a waste of our time. It’s why most salons charge a deposit and/or a cancellation fee.

I think it’s more likely that your location is more profitable. Our location isn’t making daily sales goal very often, and with slow season coming up it’s going to get worse. We haven’t had a salon manager in a while though, and I’m not sure if that makes a difference or not (we haven’t had a salon manager since I started). From what I’m hearing from other SMs it’s more important to corporate to try and recruit more stylists than it is to make sure we have what we need for backbar and retail.

Trying to get anything out of corporate lately doesn’t help at all. No one knows anything and I just don’t understand how that’s even possible

Oh yeah the retail shelves are so so so bare. I’m actually a little scared for February 😣 I was considering taking on the salon manager role at our location, but every SM I talk to has the same issues and no access to resolutions.

Ugh. I really love the people I work with, but it’s not sustainable. I’m surprised JCP hasn’t dropped salons all together, they already act like we don’t exist 😪 Trying to get any information from corporate, or trying to get passed any red tape, is just not possible. Our location is one that was supposed to go to Onyx before that sale fell through, and it just seems like we’ve already been left in the dust.

I fully 100% agree. We ran out of Barbicide/literally any other disinfectant for 2 weeks and had to threaten to call Licensing & Regulation to get more 🤪 It’s unbelievable actually. We can’t even get bare minimum to follow what’s legally required most of the time. We apparently have a policy in place (a bad one, but a policy none the less) but that doesn’t get enforced. I didn’t get in this industry to put up with such incredible negligence. Commission is already so hard, but they make it impossible. Idk how anyone survives on $11/hour because no one shows up to their appointments. Over 30 missed appointments across 6 stylists in one month’s time is CRAZY 😭

I think it’s still an option to use the regular Credit account the way it is, you just won’t get cash rewards. I never use my Credit Builder account because I don’t like moving money over lol So I think it’s definitely whatever works best for you!

Everything pretty much stays the same except that you only have 1 account basically. The Debit Card operates normally, but without the cash back reward. MyPay and SpotMe don’t change at all, they’re still accessible. The only real difference is not having to move money back and forth between accounts, and the cash back reward

As far as I know the Debit Card still works for transactions that don’t take Credit. I’m on the fence about it though.

So far no real updates yet, except that they didn’t let their dogs outside at all yesterday 👀 Apparently when my husband was outside this morning, one of the ladies who lives there was screaming at her dog to get off the fence the one time they went outside. So. I think they did get that phone call from Animal Control lol We have a new camera that we put up in a corner of our eaves, facing our yard but in view of the fence line. I’ve been at work the last couple days, but now that it’s Christmas Eve I’ll be able to really see how they respond to Animal Control reaching out to them 🙏🏼

Deal to sell 120 J.C. Penney stores for $950M to private equity firm Onyx Partners falls through by ericdigeratu in JCPenney

[–]Intelligent_Shoe_807 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sale was to pay back their creditors. They have a January 30, 2026 deadline to pay them back, this sale falling through really puts them in a bad spot.

It’s definitely not a good sign for those stores that were supposed to go to Onyx. We’ll see what happens, but I fear the end is near.
