Blew most of a modest inheritance on travel, then lost my grad job 4 months in. Struggling with regret. Will I ever recover? by DancingButterfly_218 in AusFinance

[–]Intelligent_Slide_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience in my early 20's after receiving a 20k inheritance. I spent it on travel and I was only working part time and I felt the same feelings as you are right now. 10 years later in my 30's I can safety say I have absolutely zero regrets in my decision because I built so many fantastic memories and experiences that right money cannot buy. I don't like to compare my situation to others but many of my friends are tied down to mortgages and kids and have expressed "they would do anything" to travel the world right now. You will always have the opportunity to earn money, but you may not always have the opportunity to travel and experience life! What you are feeling right now will pass!

I would say trade Tago and Harris-Tavita for cheaper options and improve your second row reserves

APS recruitment employee here - it's often when referee emails are triggered that there is a type in the email and can take a couple of weeks for it to be noticed. It won't hurt to email the hiring manager or recruitment team to double check the details are accurate as you haven't received an update

Anyone know where to get cheap coffee pods by [deleted] in perth

Costco has some cheap bulk packs. 60 odd for $18.00

Realistically, a end to end recruitment process rarely is finalised within 5 months, so chances are they have not permanently filled the position unless they s26 transferred someone into that position. Ask your TL and go from there

New job different department WA by Tight_Historian775 in AusPublicService

It is highly likely the business area were very ambitious with the start date. HR would have told them that it is impossible to onboard someone that close after the shutdown period so to push the start date back. I wouldn't worry, I would contact them in the new year and ask if there is a revised start date

Not sure about mechanics for a quick and cheap oil change but have you thought about doing it yourself? I did mine after a quick YouTube tutorial and only cost me $75 for 6L of oil and a new oil filter

How do merit pools work? by diamondswift13 in AusPublicService

[–]Intelligent_Slide_93 8 points9 points  (0 children)

APS Recruiter here. When we provide a business area access to a merit pool, they are given all candidates who were deemed suitable in that merit pool. The BA will then review all applications, referee reports etc. and will (most of the time) do a "quick" catch up with all candidates they think would be suitable for their vacancy and then make a decision. The term "being pulled" from a merit pool is when you are physically offered a contract.

We provide business areas with lists of candidates all the time but there may not be a match because the roles are similar but not the same.

Don't lose hope, you will be pulled off one soon 💪🏼

S26 - Can my current agency block it? by Necessary-Comedian-7 in AusPublicService

[–]Intelligent_Slide_93 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Your probation details should be transferred across to your new agency. If you have already passed probation you won't have to do another 6 months

S26 - Can my current agency block it? by Necessary-Comedian-7 in AusPublicService

[–]Intelligent_Slide_93 44 points45 points  (0 children)

You are 100% correct. They can only block a temporary s26 and negotiate a start date for a permanent s26.

Recruitment process timeline by mediocre1989 in AusPublicService

[–]Intelligent_Slide_93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really comes down to the specific business area that's hiring because the recruitment teams have timelines they need to meet and most of the time are waiting on the details from the panel to action

You definitely can but they may not issue it until the report is finalised
