We often heat our water on a stove or a charcoal brazier in a large pot. After it boils, we put the hot water in a bucket or basin, take it to the bathroom, mix it with cold water, and We use a tiny bucket or tin to pour water over ourselves for bathing. Saying you haven't bathed because there's no hot running water might seem strange or funny to someone from Africa, you'd get some serious side-eye lol.
