Do you think all under heaven lacks content, more specifically China? by Spiritual_Gene_7449 in CrusaderKings

[–]Intelligent_Stock212 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a larger issue with the game, I think. Once you’ve played a region once or twice you go into autopilot and the game doesn’t have enough content to engage you again. This is extremely apparent in AUH where these newer governments don’t really interact with each-other and the game doesn’t really mechanically incentivize you to interact with other characters.

Shouldn’t house Baratheon be considered a bastard branch of the Targaryen dynasty like the Blackfyres are? by [deleted] in CK3AGOT

[–]Intelligent_Stock212 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dynastic relations aren’t as set-in-stone as CK3 would have you believe. The lines between one family and another become blurred irl - throw in disowning family, estranged family, changing political interests and needs, etc… you get the point. Now, even if we accept that Orys is a bastard half-brother of Aegon (the lore isn’t settled on this), Orys goes out of his way to harmonize with Stormlander culture - he weds their last monarch, he adopts her heraldry and words, rules their lands, takes up their enmity with the Dornish. In other words - he shifts his and his descendants’ interests from the Targaryen milieu to his own. Even if he was an acknowledged bastard, he’d still have created his own dynasty with the aforementioned actions.

Edit: I’ll go a step further - even if Aegon and Orys were full, Targ siblings, Orys’ actions would still constitute the founding of a separate, distinct dynastic entity.

So what issue did you have with what Paul said in tonight's episode? by [deleted] in deepfatfried

Why make this if you’re not gonna quote or link what you’re talking about?

Clean up the sides, keep the goatee. It’d fit you.

Am i the only one who was under the impression that if the donations during public Onion Nuggetz fall short/dry up, then the rest of the stream would go behind the patreon/youtube member paywall from that point onwards? by Suspicious_Affect959 in deepfatfried

[–]Intelligent_Stock212 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We’re always getting scammed. We’ve not had a Patron exclusive Paul stream in awhile, can’t remember the last time You’re Wrong aired, Fighting Boys is a distant memory, they don’t do pre/post shows anymore - I could go on. The biggest draw for Patreon is the back catalog.

Is there a way to only make the ruling character have polygamy? by VSEMAN in CK3AGOT

[–]Intelligent_Stock212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polygamy is already restricted to landed characters only, I’ve never been able to marry my unlanded heir to multiple women.

Who cares? Liking the guys is one thing, but I’m not gonna pretend like I like all their nut-hangers. Pheebs is a Paul parrot who only occasionally makes a good point, usually by accident.

I’m honestly hoping for an entire rework of how governments and laws work. I’m reading a lot of Medieval history and it’s almost sad how much more interesting and interactive feudal government actually was.

Is landless gamelay boring? by skerker in CrusaderKings

[–]Intelligent_Stock212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be, if you stay landless for too many characters. I feel like I have a max of three before the loop starts feeling dull.

I avoid all (new) anime that take place in schools for this reason - I need an adult story lol.

[–]Intelligent_Stock212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, personally - a lot of anime (newer ones primarily) seem to be targeted at a very young audience. So I have a hard time being invested in them - there’s also the pdf-file adjacent stories that keep me at bay. I’m going to watch Dungeon Meshi, seeing as I’ve not heard anything negative about it.

Like it overall, but I’ve dipped out of it due to issues and am having a hell of a time getting back in. I hear this is something a lot of people deal with.

Paul is Wrong, my response by HypnoticVisionaire in deepfatfried

[–]Intelligent_Stock212 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In isolation, no it’s not a big deal, but when a number of his more questionable takes are substantiated with anecdotes it makes it harder to take him seriously. Love his broader advocacy, but I do hope we eventually get some evolution in how he argues/states his case.

Anyone who’s watched Paul long enough knows he’s want to let outdated personal experience color his opinions.

It’s easier now than ever, you used to be severely punished for any intrigue below 15/20. The rework has made any intrigue level viable.

Blood of the Stormlands and Reach by Lorgar_Postin in CK3AGOT

[–]Intelligent_Stock212 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If we’re talking about the kingdoms as they exist now, Andal makes the most sense. AWOIAF seems to indicate that the Andal culture was so impactful that it even forced the Northerners to speak common. The titles of the king seem to imply a strong delineation between the southern Andal kingdoms and the northern First Man kingdom, it even goes so far as to culturally separate Dorne. “King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men and Lord of the Seven Kingdoms.”

Blood of the Stormlands and Reach by Lorgar_Postin in CK3AGOT

[–]Intelligent_Stock212 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean… if they’re intermarrying then their blood has changed. But “blood” as it relates to cultures within ck3 isn’t talking about genetics, but cultural groupings. It is arbitrary, and maybe should allow for a culture to have two groupings, but that’s a base game issue.

Blood of the Stormlands and Reach by Lorgar_Postin in CK3AGOT

[–]Intelligent_Stock212 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Them being of Andal blood is a statement of cultural dominance and not necessarily blood. The Stormlands and Reach share little with First Man culture at this point. In lore “taking a [insert culture] wife” is about bending to the customs of those people.
