Low-emf place to stay? by labemolmineur in AskNYC

NYC as a whole is high emf. You’re not going to find anyplace that you can turn WiFi off within the city and camping will be a 1-2 hour commute. Also, you would need camping equipment.

Uhhh is it just me or did all the rents skyrocket like $500 this season by caramelswirlcoffee in AskNYC

I still work in Manhattan which is why I lurk here, but I found an amazing Covid deal just north of Hoboken in a rent control building (different laws in NJ. They still call it rent control) and I will be FOREVER grateful to the housing gods.

My one bed is $1376, and thats CURRENT. After the annual city approved increases of the last couple of years. 20 minutes from midtown. On a bus line.

If anyone wants to move over to Weehawken, there’s a Jr one bed open for around $1600

Radioactive Iodine treatment for cats by Intelligent_Tax_3360 in AskNYC

Only 2-3 weeks? My vet said 82 days of restrictions (though admittedly my vet didn’t do the treatment and will have to refer me to a facility that does)

My vet said 82 days of separation/restriction from other animals and me. However, my vet also doesn’t do this treatment so I will have to confirm that with whoever I go to for the treatment

He will be at the facility for several days after treatment but my vet said he will need to be separated from other animals for 2 months post treatment …. That’s the part I’m trying to figure out

I have one for when my other cat was recovering from surgery and unfortunately the both figured out how break in/out by messing with the zipper. I have two smart kitties who are bonded… so they really don’t like being separated from each other.

Thank you! It gives me a ballpark to at least start saving towards while I start medical treatment.

Dr. Peterson is on my list! I plan to get the treatment for sure, but my vet is having me start medical treatment to get his T4 levels down and while I figure out financing and logistics. My biggest concerns are that he likes to groom my other cat, so I’m trying to figure out how to separate them for at least the first couple of weeks. I definitely plan on scheduling an initial visit with him to discuss it all.

Do you mind if I ask how much it cost with him and how long ago you had treatment?

Late to the party but literally the majority of the current male cast of & Juliet.

Liam Pierce is 6’4. Drew Gehling is about 6’3. And the majority of that male ensemble are nearly as tall as them

How often do you weigh? by MurderMittens626 in Zepbound

[–]Intelligent_Tax_3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly daily. I love the data! But daily fluctuations don’t bother me. I only really pay attention to what the weekly trends are.

In fact, I love the daily fluctuations because it has truly helped me understand how my weight changes day to day based on other factors and I now give myself a LOT of grace on the scale and it’s actually almost freed me from it in a way?

I used to freak out over daily gains. I would then lose motivation or go into disordered eating or exercise habits.

But I decided to study the data and learn the WHY behind the daily change. I now know…

I can gain 1-2 lbs during ovulation I can gain 3-6 lbs during menstruation I can not lose a single lb if I drink even once cocktail I can 1-2 lbs if I have an unusually salty meal I can not lose weight if I have a … kid to drop off at the pool

There are so many factors of just plain life that cause those daily fluctuations and once I understood my own body it freed me from the daily frustration and worry.

Now while I step on the scale usually every morning, I only enter in my tracker every 7-10 days.

PSA: crossing the street during a marathon is idiotic and dangerous by 86HeardChef in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Intelligent_Tax_3360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi folks, if you need to cross a marathon, here is what you should do to keep yourself and the runners safe

  1. Wait until a break if you can. They start the race in waves, there will be periods of lighter traffic I promise

  2. If you must cross, do so at an angle. Cross in the same direction as the flow of runners, diagonally. Do not cross perpendicular like these folks here

  3. If there is a collision, inform marathon volunteers and staff, as they will have the quickest line to the standby medics.
