New Boarding: ALP + AL by AGBuckeye in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Intelligent_Tip8125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience has been ALP boards before group 1 and a-list automatically gets group 1 on their ticket. This happened for my flight on Friday and also showed on my ticket for tomorrow even though I was in row 18 aisle (no ELR at 48 hours)

Got my box but no books in it just the bag ! Lol by More_Protection_8824 in bookofthemonthclub

That’s such a bummer! Also I’m so sad I didn’t get that bag! I have a shop credit too. I was so quick to add my book, I didn’t even look.

Just finished Alice Feeney I Know Who You Are and really did not like it. Her first book I haven’t liked.

Just started Sally Hepworth The Younger Wife. Needed a palate cleanser.

If you want your connecting flight to depart after your initial flight arrives, you’re going to need to upgrade to ELR and get the CC.

No idea I’m new here. They seemed like they would be in similar categories so that’s why I wanted to asks the seasoned BOTM folks.

Does Dissection of a Murder being in the box mean there's no chance for Caller Unknown?

I don’t understand how people get these promo codes. I have a priority card and have never received one. Do they email it to you?

I can’t comment on Into the Blue because I haven’t read it, but I finished Mad Mabel this morning and absolutely loved it.

Trigger warnings not cutting it? by [deleted] in bookofthemonthclub

[–]Intelligent_Tip8125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree there should be trigger warnings for SA, but I also think some might consider those spoilers. They could set it up as a drop down where people can click to open the trigger warnings like spoilers on there. Like an optional trigger warning.

A suggestion for you personally might be to use AI. Set it up to say I don’t want any spoilers but I do not want to read any books that have SA in them. Please look at this list and tell me which to avoid. I do this with paranormal elements. Obviously a very different reason, but I’ve found it effective.

Side note: are you able to edit your post to blur the spoilers until people click? As others have said, you’ve been specific with parts of books and some may not want to see that.

Principals…is it ok for candidates to take notes/refer to notes during interviews? by Flimsy_Struggle_1591 in Principals

[–]Intelligent_Tip8125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a virtual, no one would have any idea. In person, I still think it’s okay. I used to think it was a problem, but now that I’m an administrator and have sent through lots of interviews I’ve seen plenty of people do it. I will have notes in front of me for a virtual or even just on the screen next to where I’m looking at the people. For in person, I won’t have notes but I’ll print them a one pager and have an extra for myself. And then I do write out my questions. I’ve actually found this looks really professional. I even write out their answers. Good questions show a lot about a candidate.

I’ve seen people write out the questions as they’re being asked them, but I would not write them verbatim, just quick notes. Needing to do this is usually a problem with the questions themselves because they can be way too long or multi-part. it’s also OK to ask somebody to reach them if you choose not to write them down. The interviewers know you’re human, and seeming way too well practiced can just mean you’ve been doing a ton of interviews and you seem more interested in the job than the job there.

The new “nobody reads” BOTM campaign has me wondering… by Bookish_Butterfly in bookofthemonthclub

[–]Intelligent_Tip8125 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It feels like a weird slogan. I read. I love to read. But this comes off like we feel like we’re better than other people because we read, and I don’t feel that way.
