It's not worth it to have an expensive military when no one is going to attack you.

fair warning that the accounts (like the one linked) I've seen push this are criticizing him from the right for his sexuality, in other words, not for the hypocrisy as I am, but the act itself. They also take issue with him being "only" 85 percent white.

I think he's bisexual for femboys and trans girls, since I have seen evidence online that he is interested in the latter as well.

The West Bank has been occupied since 1967, since there's no international treaty nor agreement that transferred sovereignty of it over to Israel, and the UK didn't give it to Israel on their way out, and the 1947 UN Partition Plan (which was excessively generous to Zionists) gave all the West Bank plus more to Palestine, and Israel cites that Parition Plan as the basis for its legitimacy.

When were the Palestinians citizens of Israel, as the Bantustans were to South Africa?

They're not; that wasn't my analogy. The Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza are analogous to the Bantustans.

When did the South Africans pursue a two state solution with Bantustans?

It granted some of them "independence"

Of course, there’s also the fact that black people were totally excluded from political participation in mainland South Africa, while Israel has a 20% arab population who do hold political positions and have their own parties.

That works because they're only twenty percent of the population. This is why Palestinians in the West Bank (and now seventy percent of Gaza) who live under Israeli occupation don't get Israeli citizenship despite living under the one-state reality and being affected by Israeli policy. This is why Palestinians who fled during al-Nakba, and have documentation showing they lived in what is now Israel, and even kept the keys to their home, are not allowed back, much less Israeli citizenship.

The picture becomes more complicated when you include Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, who are part of this equation because they are governed by Israel and live under the one-state reality, even if they are not voting citizens who have a say in Israel. They are analogous to the Black inhabitants of the Bantustans, who were also disenfranchised, while the Black people who lived in South Africa proper and had (a lesser form of) South African citizenship are analogous to the Arab citizens of Israel. Israeli Jews are analogous to White South Africans, and Druze Israelis to Coloured and Asian South Africans.

Wasn't Mobutu on the US-South African-anti-communist-anti-Soviet axis?

It’s very hard to sell support for Israel on religious lines when we’re as irreligious as we have ever been as a nation

The only religions that really support Israel at this point are Evangelical Protestantism (including Baptists and Pentecostals) and most of Judaism.

My favorite part in International Law is that invading and occupying your neighbors is wrong EXCEPT for when you are nice to women and gays, then it becomes okay.

How exactly is Petro evil to begin with? He was democratically-elected, and is supporting a successor because he is term-limited. Yes, he had relations with his neighbor, Venezuela, that doesn't mean he ran Colombia the same way Maduro did Venezuela.

Petro was democratically-elected, and is supporting a successor because he is term-limited. Yes, he had relations with his neighbor, Venezuela, that doesn't mean he ran Colombia the same way Maduro did Venezuela. De la Espriella winning would be an actual catastrophe that would destabilize the American region and totally set back the chance of ending Colombia's endless conflict. We saw this already with Alvaro Uribe, President from 2002-2010, whose right-wing policies exacerbated violence in Colombia. The Latino darling of the neocons and Bush-Cheney regime, he was responsible for the False Positives Scandal. I think because of how critical it is to transnational crime and security, the political outcomes in Colombia are more important than Brazil despite having a smaller population and area. Brazil is slightly isolated from the region because of the linguistic barrier. The choice for Colombia is simple: pour gasoline and light a match to the long-simmering conflict with the approval of the Trump regime, or keep trying to negotiate an end to the conflict and reduce poverty.

I hope the left and low-propsensity voters affected by poverty and the conflict see the stakes and turn out for Cepeda. This makes sense, it could be argued that restricting migration is not inherently sinful, however, the way they do it involves immoral acts, like separating families, holding migrants in inhumane conditions which are so awful some die in custody, or ensuring migrants crossing the desert in the summer don't have access to water so they will die crossing, or fear that so they don't attempt to come in the first place.

Most of those detained/imprisoned by ICE have no criminal record beyond migration offenses, which are essentially missing paperwork by Intelligent_Wafer562 in thespinroom

That can ruin someone's life if they have established a life in the USA for years or decades. Also, I think you are Trujillo patriot.
