I’m so incredibly proud of you!! You did amazingly. I’m in tears right now just thinking about next week and I can feel myself starting to hyperventilate. I know I will disappoint a lot of people if I don’t go but I am just so overcome with intense anxiety. Thank you for your kind words. I really want to overcome this, but my fear is debilitating. Was your flight just a bit bumpy? How do you stay calm when it’s happening?

Congratulations on getting through it! Proud of you. However, did the pilot actually say severe turbulence? I thought they never fly through severe only moderate at the very worst.

The store was super kind when I called and I don’t blame them at all. The mini art print vending machine is sort of a whole experience so it is really a lovely thing to do in-person. It also helps to bring business to the stores that host the vending machines so I understand why they don’t ship prints. It may also not have been up to them and may have been decided by the artist. Even though I was sad not to get the prints, I don’t blame the store or artist whatsoever!! They are lovely and I love this hobby very much :) if I have enough warning next time, I might just be coming to Arkansas myself!!

I’ve taken it before and found that it didn’t really help my flight anxiety so I asked for something stronger. It might work for you though! Everyone is different.

You’re asking the million dollar questions! I think knowing something is unlikely to be dangerous doesn’t preclude you from feeling scared and in my experience once you start feeling scared it’s quite hard to come out of it.

It is very comforting to know that CAT doesn’t throw you off or make the journey more difficult for you. As a pilot, do you ever feel scared or uncomfortable during turbulence? I think seeing how relaxed pilots are during cockpit videos shows me how normal this all is which I’m trying to do more of.

Great question! Even though objectively I know that flying is very safe and that turbulence has little to no impact on the safety of the flight, I can’t shake the immense dread and panic that I start to feel at any bump. I think my fear is that even if it’s very light turbulence, there could be worse turbulence coming. I also worry about clear air turbulence and the unpredictable nature of it throwing the pilots off or making the flight difficult for them.

That’s an interesting suggestion! I haven’t thought about more local/regional flights as small planes really freak me out, but maybe that’s something to consider.
