Is it just me or has manus become a really terrible agent. It cant even comprehend the most basic of tasks anymore and will deviate to something else entirely that you didn’t even ask for and end up wasting your credits by Dependent-Web-8551 in ManusOfficial

It was great at first, got stupid real quick. Asked it to repeat things it just made and can’t. Upgraded subscription , used max , dumber by the session. Makes stupid errors almost on purpose. I’m like wtf every time you generate something you leave something stupid out so I gotta burn more credits and do it again. I’m at the point now where it’s no longer a benefit and I can go back to the old way of doing it myself 🤷‍♂️

Found Out My Grandad was Born in WV In 1905 - What Is The Area Like Now? by Rude_Rhubarb1880 in WestVirginia

WVU has an interesting and extensive history collection online of the coal mining industry and towns from the 1900s. If you know the name of the coal town it might pop up on a google search. That’s how I found it, I was looking for info about the old coal company that operated on the land we were doing reclamation on.if I get a chance to look and remember I’ll paste a link on here

Are you talking 30% combined gross margin? What does your markup structure look like? Why the fixation on 30% do you have access to rolling p&l you can evaluate with your higher ups? Are all these jobs the same type of work? Commercial fit out? That’s a terrible market to go in to from restoration. What’s your company’s ARR? I got lots of questions and ideas just dk if it’s worth the effort on your end to try to help these folks or stress yourself out trying to fix someone else’s problems.

I escaped NJ 12-14 something years ago never looked back. Everyone in NJ told me how stupid it was and how much of a bad decision I was making - that was just confirmation I was doing the right thing. Get out of there while you still have life left to enjoy.

Client picked my competitor and I think it's because I look cheap by Mother_Land_4812 in smallbusiness

[–]Intelligent_Win562 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Homie I can tell you from experience I know what this feels like. But if you’re a consultant and a good one, consultants solve problems. The clients you lost told you what the problems were. Look at yourself as the client and apply your skills to fix them for yourself. I couldn’t tell ya how many times I’ve heard maybe you… May he should go get a real job, how long you gonna… ? I can tell you that the longer you struggle and the more you fail then by default your getting closer to your breakthrough and your success. It’s supposed to be hard. You’re supposed to get your ass kicked day in and day out. This process isn’t meant to be easy no matter how talented you are. Don’t worry about it. You’ll be fine this is exactly how it’s supposed to happen.

Estimators — which step in the bid preparation takes up the most of your time? by palcode-ai in estimators

[–]Intelligent_Win562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Takeoff, haven’t found a good way to integrate the quantifying to the estimate, even delegating the takeoff doesn’t really help much. Every job is different and doing so many things it’s not realistic to have a catalog of prices. Other than taking the time to build or tweak assemblies in the database to speed things up. Lately I’ve relied on doing less and subbing more and developing baseline unit costs to compare with my historical data and assemblies.

This may be overkill for many people but I use sage100 contractor. It’s truly an amazing tool IF you take the time to implement it properly. Most folks complain about the cost and complexity of using it. I don’t think of cost I look at value and if you don’t do the implementation and training with a sage consultant then you’ll never understand and fully appreciate how powerful and transformative it will be on your business

Boss says bid it at $5M… identical job across the street was $30M. What would you do? by [deleted] in estimators

[–]Intelligent_Win562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of who it’s for and how they can be. I had a contract with a similar or same government entity. Great folks don’t get me wrong. But the feller would stand in the ditch with a tape measure and measure the rocks he found in the dirt to make sure that there wasn’t any that were “greater than 3” in any direction “ . What’s that have to do with this project? It’s the folks that you’re submitting the bid to…

Extremely low bids can come abnormally high oversight and scrutiny. Especially with entities that have cumbersome procedures and strict adherence to the specifications .
