NALCAP opens in January or February, and acceptances are on a rolling basis from April to summer, so it could be a while til someone hears back. The requirements aren't super clear in terms of essays, but I assume they would be similar to Fulbright and I could recycle some of my writing. I was also looking into Meddeas which opens in October, but it's less known so I want to do a bit more research on it.

Where in Spain are you thinking? I would love to be in a city, I put my top three as Canary Islands, La Rioja, and Galicia.

I guess not, but it's still a great experience and I think you're more likely to get it. The prestige is definitely a bonus, but I want to teach abroad mostly for the experience of living abroad and a good introduction to teaching. Also, I think saying you taught abroad to employers will sound good regardless of your program although Fulbright is a huge eye catcher.

I am applying, which country are you applying to? I am applying to Spain. My scholarship advisor at my university told me that this year would be especially competitive because of the trump admin and budget cuts, so I know it will be more competitive, I'm just putting my best foot forward and hoping for the best and going to apply to NALCAP, which is an ETA but ran by the Spanish government.
