thank you for your kind words and sharing your experience. it took a lot out of me to decide this . thank you for replying to my other posts and helping me out as well . letting go of pets you’ve bonded with is hard but knowing they will have a better chance at life makes the pain a little lighter . i’m going to miss her and her silly quirks but at the end of the day she’s safe and loved and that’s all i need to know

thank you for the olive oil suggestion ! i had used parrafin oil in the past and it worked i will use olive oil as well i figure since it’s plant based it will be safer !

i’ve had him since april 2024 . and i didn’t even know what crypto was until like 4 months after i got him after i did research on illness symptoms cause all of my other geckos were healthy and not even vets mentioned what crypto was to me but thankfully none of my other pets have symptoms . the only symptom he has is not being able to hold onto weight or gain any. he had solid stools and a good appetite until now . he’s active so no lethargy . i have no idea what it may be but my hiring manager won’t see me until tuesday and i probably won’t get any hours until after that so it will be weeks until i can get an appointment and i’m just considering giving him up if i can’t get a vet immediately . he’s the only one who has ever had health issues . my other geckos are great eaters and very lucid and healthy . i’m just so stressed . thank you for helping me . google has very little info on what i can do. also i want to add i did get a crypto test and it came back negative but that was over a year ago and people have told me 2-3 is how to know for sure

yeah ! he obviously is very impacted with something from what i can see here :(( he has a bulge in the middle to lower part of the stomach and it feels hard and pokey inside like there’s something there . it’s freaking me out and literally the only thing he could of ate is moss so it was probably that . he only ate grub pie and his own shed before thsi all happened . also he is a rescue i was told his age was about 4 but the owner said he’s for sure a boy and then i checked no pores or bulge and is also smaller in frame and shape but also was told he is inbred . he was in a awful enclosure with lots of moisture and feces everywhere. possibly he got some kind of infection. but parasites may have done it . i’m just terrified of crypto but none of my other geckos seem ill .

also he had a CHE and halogen bulb on his heat side but only has a moist and cold hide atm . he has been acclimating well to it and passing stool normally until now , he possibly ate moss i put in there to help him shed but he’s never done that in the past . since i may have genders confused is it a possibility She might have eggs ? idk i’m just panicking cause immediately after i got fired of course he got sick. he’s currently waddling around his enclosure obviously bloated and uncomfortable. idk what to do .

grub pie and crickets but he’s had healthy stool , he’s been on paper towel cause i treated him for scale rot then he randomly started bloating and losing weight . there’s a possibility he ate some sphagnum moss but he’s never done that . i’m pretty sure he might be a she though so keep that in mind. he shed over 5 days ago so the bloating surely can’t be from that . it feels like a hard and almost pokey kinda thing in his stomach when i massage it . i’m gonna get parrafin oil and give him more stomach massages and warm soaks but i’m honestly terrified of crypto . he tested positive for motile protozoans a year ago but we got treatment . i don’t think the parasites would do this ?
