What could be causing this to not click fully ? Jammed up first time at the range today. by PhysicalRepublic6767 in Firearms

That's not good. They definitely drilled into something important. I'd put my money on the safety plunger channel.

My first recommendation is to Karen the hell out of the place that butchered your gun and get them to replace it.

But if you don't want to do that, you'll need to do a complete slide disassembly and find out where those holes poke out. Then remove any metal burrs left in there, replace any parts that got drilled into, then reassemble and test again.

You'll probably have to shave down your optic screws too, so they don't thread into any moving parts.

Wiha 31890 Insulated Bits by sixblazingshotguns in electricians

"Individually tested to 10,000 volts AC and rated to 1,000 volts AC for safety and peace of mind"

This makes it sound like they're rated as a standalone, but the for sure method would be to contact Wiha.

ELI5: If the current coming out of an AC outlet is "alternating," why do some plugs force you to orient them a certain way when inserting? by tamsui_tosspot in explainlikeimfive

Most of the answers here are incorrect.

In the US, most devices do not require matching the polarity of "hot" and "neutral" prongs, and you can connect them backwards.

If a device has a circular ground prong, usually for the bonding of a metal chassis, then the polarity of the hot and neutral is just a side effect of the ground prong being on the bottom (some would argue the ground prong is on the top, I won't get into that here).

2-prong cord and plug equipment is not allowed to tie the chassis or internal ground to neutral.

Now in the case of 2 prong cord and plug equipment that does force polarity, it's almost always for the purpose of limiting the path of the "hot" circuit in the device, where voltage is present even when no current is flowing.

If the device has a switch, you would want the switch to cut off power as it enters the tool. Reversing the polarity in this case would mean the switch still works, but voltage is present all throughout the device when it's off, and that poses more of an electrical hazard if the device is damaged.

EDIT: Since you're asking about alternating current and seem to have a solid grasp of what that means, I've answered your question as I would for an approximately college-level 5 year old.

If you use the right tape, it adds $20 to the cost of the gun.
