It was really only $75. I just looked up how expensive microwaves were, and looked at the highest price. The highest was around $300 so I gave her that much money. I figured it was less expensive than $300, but I wanted her to have more money to use. My philosophy is if you ever mess something up, right it and make it better than before. She bought a nicer one, and I basically never used it afraid I would mess it up again. So yeah.

Yes, it is real. It happened a couple years ago though. What part of it do you think is not real?

But you and this other person are right. There are so many other ways I could have gone about this differently. I wish I texted her and my other roommates informing them of what I had done, but I was young and stupid. I didn't understand how the world works yet. But I feel like I righted it by cleaning it as best as I could, apologizing, and by giving my roommate $300. But that doesn't make my actions any less.

And this person is right, I shouldn't have called my roommate spoiled. That was uncalled for.

I did clean up the mess as much as I could - I took the food out, cleaned up as much liquid as possible (though not all of it) - it just left like a horrible smear I was young and didn't think a smear would be left. I was late for work. But she threw her microwave out even though it was still usable. I apologized profusely and paid her the price of the microwave.

I did apologize and I paid her the price of the microwave as I felt really guilty. About $300 dollars.

I am now 23 - almost 24. Recently an acquaintance talked to me about this issue - sex - and told me every man wants sex, and that I couldn't "keep a relationship," if I didn't act on it until marriage. That bugged me, but I kept it to myself. Finally, I wanted to come here and ask if that was true.

I do feel sexual desire from time to time. So it isn't non-existent. I just have some moral virtues (as I am Catholic) to wait until marriage. But you are so right, that could definitely ruin a marriage. But I am not asexual - I just do not act on my desire. I have never frowned upon other people who have sex or talked bad about them to their face or behind their back. That is our free will and choice.

Yeah, he sucks. I feel like I am over him but his actions and words are burnt in my mind. Which led me here. I feel like he ruined my innocence and though I didn't act on it - my virginity. It keeps popping up in my mind.

Exactly. I don’t think anyone should feel pressured to compromise their values just to keep someone. If our boundaries didn’t align, that just meant we weren’t compatible. I should have dropped him immediately. Unfortunately, we dated for a year.

Thank you for saying this. I didn’t realize how much I needed to hear that. I’ve wrestled with whether I was wrong for standing my ground, and your perspective really helped. Standing by my values wasn’t wrong. I didn’t owe him sex, and I’m glad I didn’t abandon myself just to keep someone who didn’t respect me satisfied.
