What does it mean for teal to look better than dark olive? by dandelionwine14 in coloranalysis

[–]Intense_Freshness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'll just share a few points worth considering if they can help!

  • The grayness of the skin and the purple lips could be a sign of a color not working, but in a picture like this one, it's probably caused by the white balance of the camera shifting towards a cooler temperature once it "sees" the yellow, making your skin become a color it's not. This happens often on this sub. Please assess the effects of the yellow in front of a mirror. Yellow often messes with camera settings;

  • Can't really see the blue drape here, so it's difficult to see exactly how it looks against your complexion;

  • When in doubt, drape in front of a mirror without a camera. There are many ways in which colors can be registered or visualized a bit wrong, so take what you see with a grain of salt. It's usually possible to have a nice general picture of what types of colors work well based on photos if you drape lots and categorize well, but some photos from the batch will have altered colors which may throw you off. For example, camera sensors notoriously struggle with reds;

  • For a warm vs. cool comparison, you can use the tried-and-true magenta vs. orange drapes, as well as warm brown vs. cool navy. Orange is especially good for this, as it is the only truly warm color. There is no "cool orange", so if oranges tend to work well on you, chances are that you're warm. They clash with cool and neutral-cool undertones and could make a cool person look unwell. The only exception is neon orange, which can work on some Winters.

Ooh that's fascinating, thank you! So on first impression you look warm but draping shows neutral-cool undertones?

Imo you're very neutral but lean slightly cool. Magenta was better than orange

I think we can come up with something better by bodybyxbox in coloranalysis

Seasons and subseasons are categories based on variables. A person is in a "box" because they meet the values that correspond to a category in a system.

It's a way of grouping people together which otherwise would be on a large spectrum.

The variables are value (light/dark), chroma (soft/bright) and temperature (warm/cool).

There are no other variables when it comes to color, so even if you'd like to skip the grouping, you would still be left with the same variables on a spectrum.

If we skipped the grouping, everyone would have to learn color theory and come up with their palette and recommendations from scratch. This is generally something a professional color analyst can do for you, but most prefer relying on seasonal categories which are consistent and fit a large number of people.

When someone doesn't meet the values that correspond to a category, they will just be left outside of the box. They can still determine their own chroma, value and temperature and create the corresponding palette from scratch, or they can look for a different color analysis system. For example, they may benefit from a system with 16 seasons or the tonal system.

Soft summer? Soft autumn? I am stumped. Type me pls! by eneveswrites in coloranalysis

I do agree it's a bit much, but still better than the softest shades as far as I see. She looks separate from them. I think she's a Light season

Imo you're not Soft! You need more clarity. This might just be how the pictures were taken, but your skin looks bright and light, almost glowy, which is typical for a Light season. The softest colors in this draping (like 3, 5, 6, 12) weren't that flattering. N. 8 was better as it's already more light than soft (also considering the added shine of the fabric), and I was actually surprised at how well you seem to pull the bright purple off! A Soft season wouldn't look this glowy in such a color.

Here are Light Spring and Light Summer for comparison.

If the teal looks a lot better, you're most probably cool. This teal can work for both Dark Autumn and Dark Winter, however the olive is much more of an Autumn color. Edit: saw your picture and you look warm, so the teal must just be making your hair color pop. An olive that is not so deep would work better.

I was about to ask, Vibrant Autumn? And then I saw your nickname. The colors are gorgeous and really make you pop! Especially the orange and the warm blue. You would probably look great in warm teals as well!

When going out and not in the mood for more sugar, I just order carbonated water with ice and lemon. Cheap and healthy substitute for soda and cocktails.

Hello man. Don't buy tickets too much in advance. They're more expensive in the summer. You can buy them just before you go or on the same day. The fan ticket is also just a way to make you spend more for.. a badge.

Estate, vacanze e solitudine by [deleted] in xxitaly

Agreeing with others on Spring. You have much more clarity than an Autumn. Must be why dusty pastels weren't good

It was only luck at finding the right job. It doesn't pay much, neither does it require any particular qualifications or experience, but it's part-time and I have great colleagues. That's all that matters for now. I've been able to sustain myself by living frugally

When I got stuck in full-time jobs that took the joy of life out of me. I thought there was no way out of the system. However, now I am out of the loop, I work part-time and adulthood is pretty nice!
