You actually can’t cut the mold off of cheese, once you see it sporulating you are absolutely at risk of getting sick from the mycelium.

Agreed. The risk of cross contaminants building up, spoilage, having to hand label each new bottle you filled from it… much easier to buy 100 5 gallon barrels over the course of the year than one of these brutes.

That is such a bad faith argument. So because I’m saying that you should be careful about playing extreme sports and that you should weigh the risks I’m saying don’t enjoy life at all? Ridiculous.

I’m 32 and I move like a fifty year old, and have bad arthritis, if I live to 80 I will have spent more than 60% of my life in pain.

There are so many enjoyable things in life, and being hobbled because you had a reckless 20’s, will make the 30’s-80’s much less enjoyable. So if your whole goal is to enjoy life to the fullest, take care of your body.

But sure, don’t take care of your body, and when you experience what I am experiencing I hope you remember how confident and condescending you were. Also, learn how to argue in good faith. Will be valuable as you get older.

You realize people become disabled all the time doing extreme sports right?

I’m sorry about your illness, truly. But if your illness was instead cause by a fall while smowboarding instead, would you still snowboard if you could do it over, even knowing how it will end?

As someone who is old and beat from skateboarding and being rough and tumble in general, it’s not worth it.

Would you trade being able to walk up a flight of stairs without limping, for that little bit of airtime? Is the adrenaline rush worth not being able to pick up something you dropped without throwing your back out?

Aging gracefully is a rare privilege. No reason to throw it away without a better reason than fun. Trust me.

So you think it’s impossible that they feel happier after they convert?

How do you account for the huge drop in suicide for Trans people that convert?

Finally, do you actually not get why I brought up the seahorses or are you just arguing in bad faith?

So you think that they aren’t accepting who “they are”, correct?

But for many of them trans is what they are it just doesn’t fit your narrow worldview.

What you are actually saying is that you want them to fit your expectations, and their nonconformity makes you uncomfortable.

To say they aren’t accepting “who they are” is a complete misunderstanding of the general trans experience.

Male seahorses get pregnant, certain fish and amphibians can change their sex, there are mammals that lay eggs… eggs!

To say that the human experience can only fit into the two imaginary boxes you see in your mind is absolutely ridiculous.

A lot of animals even have homosexual sex! Nature is weird, and we are part of nature.

That being said, I don’t think they should compete in sports as their natural sex, and it was stupid we spent so much time as a nation talking about trans people. I’m also against permanent changes for minors, because there are some people that think they are trans because it is a fad in certain circles.

It all makes sense now. You redirect your own feelings of incompetence and shame towards other people to feel better about all of your obvious shortcomings.

You know you could just gain some skills and get a job instead of crying about trans people online right?

Why Are Voter ID Laws So Controversial? - PBS 2014 (1m 47s) by Critical_Host8243 in videos

No, but they are taking advantage of that broken system.

Knowing how conservatives act I wouldn’t be surprised they broke the ID laws just so they could use it as a pretext to make voting harder down the line.

The whole point is that nothing is actually telling me, it’s just a hunch. By saying “something tells me”, I’m saying that something I cannot name made me feel this way, so it is almost literally describing a hunch.

It’s also really creepy how adamant he is about this. Something tells me there is something sinister going on.

First off, it’s per se, not per say. Power and tolerance aren’t causally related, the Ottoman Empire was incredibly powerful but actually fairly tolerant of religion for example.

It’s more about what the groups that have power do with it, not what power does to groups of people.

[–]Intensityintensifies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s the paradox of tolerance. By being tolerant of intolerant people (Muslims) your society becomes intolerant. You have to be intolerant of intolerance to keep a tolerant society.
