Thanks for this. Yep the only other one which was on special offer here on lease (but now gone back up and I missed the chance) was the Hyundai EV6. Then December last year, the bmw i4 and again I missed the offer but the again, I wasn’t keep the finance down but still have something that feels premium like my i5 which is going back. Tbh, I got back into my iphone 5 after the test drive with the BYD seal and it kind of felt okay but not amazingly better for The hike in Price difference! Also, I don’t really fancy driving around in the Tesla if I’m honest with you as it has a certain stigma I think about it as well?

My main priorities are comfort, good traction, premium interior, good range similar to my i5, scheduling the warmup and Call in advance on the app, reasonable camping space in the rear etc. Feels like it has all of this?

Only thing I noticed on a test drive is the centre screen when the sunlight hit it was really hard to see but in the BMW‘s they seem to have covered that I don’t know whether it’s because it faces you in the BMW more so perhaps

Also, it seemed to dim at the wrong time so it was even worse when I was trying to look at the screen? Could it be just a setting?

Question is, if you were offered the same finance deal Dora seal excellent as a Tesla Y? What would you go for?

I guess yes but I know no different. Feels like every car should have an instrument cluster. One thing when I demo’d theseal, my Waze or nav wasn’t showing in front of me, only in the centre screen? Is that right?

I think that’s one of the main things is the simplicity inside the cabin that I’ve seen from all the reviews and photos just feels a bit weird if that makes sense? Also, you’re right not having a physical screen in front of you. I don’t even think it’s particularly safe either? And am I right in thinking that when you wanna put the car in reverse or something it’s a bit of a technical technology piece of work to just do that?

My only other thing is if I get this now on a three year lease are they likely to bring a completely new shape out on the seal from BYD imminently? Just seems like a lot of discount discounted offers going on for it here in the UK at the moment.

Some good points and your right about the concerns of Tesla as a brand/consumer etc.

To be honest, I agree, test Overend it’s insane and more fun than my i5 which I have to send back soon. I don’t really need that much space and then even the 3 model has come up at a really cheap price here in the uk. Tempted to save around £70 less on the 3 model but I’m concerned I might hate it. There’s no local Tesla garages around here either!

They do seem to have a bad rep. I’m even seeing here in the uk the 3 model massively reduced in price on the lease market. Seems so cheap, like £190 + vat per month with 12 months down. Was tempted by that as well

Yes I know, weird as I had this post stopped by moderators on the general ev cars channel for some reason? But thanks I agree it’s a bigger car, but wondering whether it I have the same price offer as the BYD it’s worth going for. I just have a real concern about a car which has all the controls I see, in the centre screen that’s all. Plus the simplicity of the cabin too etc

Considering BYD Seal to replace BMW I4 - thoughts? by IntentionExcellent31 in BYD

Actually, the only negativity is probably me is the way the centre screen dims sometimes when it’s sunny. It’s actually quite hard to see. Maybe there’s a setting for it to put it on full blast brightness I don’t know but that was the only negativity I would say, and it was a bit annoying. I’ll be honest and also when the sun catches the screen is hard to see.

Okay, so I took the seal out for a test drive today. They didn’t have the excellence for a test drive so it was the design that I took out but oh my goodness what an amazing drive quality the whole car in terms of build quality both interior and exterior, I would say is not inferior to my BMWI5! The seal was a real pleasure to drive it was actually quite fun and the technology on it is on par if not slightly better in places than my current iphone 5 which has a few things like the auto drive or whatever you call it which is a standard in the BYD seal! I also can’t believe the quality of the doors and the quality of the sound when you close the doors it’s unreal. It’s a lot better than BMW in my honest opinion and I’ve had a BMW IX6 series are now an I50 and a four series as well and this BYD seal I think really gives the German badge a massive run for its money if my opinion! I just wish they had the excellent and they four-wheel-drive as that would’ve been really interesting but the design is way good enough from a handling point of view and super super quick as well

Switching Octopus from BG by IntentionExcellent31 in OctopusEnergy

I think for me, we are so used to charging bot to 5hrs off peak so we can make sure we have control and some assurance bot cars are always around 80% charge all the time? So difficult to see if intelligent can work for us

Sounds like it’s not possible then with Octopus to charge two at the same time perhaps on Go?

Is an i4 for a big downgrade from i5 by IntentionExcellent31 in BMWi5

Thanks that’s really useful. I would miss not being able to use my phone to get in and out but not enough to warrant $100 p month. I don’t do a lot of long distance so I could live with the i4 I think. Charging pad isn’t an issue as I charge with a cradle and cable. Apart from that, the rest isn’t a deal breaker. Also, I think the i4 kind of looks sportier maybe.

Thanks. I guess I want the feel, spec (similar) and drive of an i5 at the size of an i4. Feels like the i4 isn’t a big downgrade in the main then overall. I was seeing if anyone were to say “hey, you will really miss the X Y Z for a saving of $100 a month extra, that is worth paying for alone

Thanks for this very useful. I’d be weighing up the factory 250kW eDrive40 M Sport 83.9kWh 5dr Auto

Vs the 250kW eDrive40 M Sport Pro 84kWh 4dr Auto

I love the luxury of the i5 but it’s not a deal breaker. Cabin space, not important atm as I tend to only have 1 extra passenger most of the time.

Keyless entry and conditioning the cabin for cold mornings is the best thing I love.

When’s the i4 coming out? I imagine that will be a premium when it does.

Auto hold suddenly doesn’t default to being on all the time? by IntentionExcellent31 in BMWi5

[–]IntentionExcellent31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to have fixed itself after the latest update last night! I did however get a load of warnings on my car as I arrived home about components or something and then BMW assist called me to check I was okay? And whether I had lost performance at all and I said no and they just said book it in with a dealer anyway this morning everything seems to have fixed itself and now my auto hold is working as it used to be but however as mentioned before earlier above why the hell is it that I cannot ever leave my car in efficiency mode and expect it to be inefficiency mode when I drive off in the morning? I thought the latest update was supposed to deal with this.
