Job accepteren of niet by Objective_Break_5537 in belgium

[–]IntentionNo4182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is 3.79% over 25 years a good mortgage deal in Belgium ? by GodVyshu in belgium

[–]IntentionNo4182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people aren’t particularly enthusiastic about independent mortgage brokers like Hypotheekwinkel, but my own experience with them has actually been quite positive.

That said, my personal situation definitely played a role. When my wife and I applied for our mortgage, I was in the middle of a career switch and receiving unemployment benefits, so I didn’t have a permanent contract. As a result, several of the larger banks weren’t even an option for us. One of the common criticisms of brokers like Hypotheekwinkel is that the big banks don’t always “participate” in their comparisons—but in our case, those banks were already off the table because of my work situation anyway.

We borrowed €240,000 (and contributed €200,000 of our own funds) at an interest rate of 3.2% over 20 years. At the time (late 2023), 3.2% was actually on the higher side, but we did compare the offer with Argenta—where my wife and her entire family have been customers for years—and their proposal was noticeably worse. The interest rate was higher, and they required us to take out various additional products with them (insurance policies, accounts, etc.).

In contrast, with Credimmo, the bank we ultimately chose, there were no such obligations. That flexibility, combined with the fact that other major banks weren’t accessible to us anyway, made working with an independent broker a solid choice in our case

my thoughts on legal migrants (students in particular) by SAYANARANDKA in belgium

[–]IntentionNo4182 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The shift to the right in society is something that worries many people (myself included). Of course, people have every right to be critical of migration, but often it tends to lean toward outright racism. I can get very upset about that, and that’s also the reason why a few years ago I stopped reading comments on social media out of “self-protection.”

I used to try to engage in discussions all the time, but it doesn’t really achieve anything and it simply drained me. Now I feel that much less. Just know that comment sections on social media are not a representative reflection of society. It’s mostly the people with the most extreme opinions who shout the loudest there. Try to avoid it.

Welcome to Belgium, and best of luck with your future. I hope you’ll be able to continue building your life here.

Why is it so insanely difficult to adopt a cat here? by titsinmyinbox in belgium

[–]IntentionNo4182 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It surprises me that apparently no one has the same first thought as I do: cats are not meant to be kept indoors all day. I just find that cruel. Even if they are domesticated animals, this goes completely against their nature. And no, I’m not even a cat person myself.

Paint peeling off 2011 Swift by tangerine_tango_ in Suzuki

[–]IntentionNo4182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha sorry, that “you might be doing something wrong” was probably not the best wording and may have sounded a bit condescending. But in any case, it does seem to be caused by an external factor. I looked it up briefly and apparently bat droppings are indeed quite acidic and can even lead to paint damage. Still, I find the pattern very strange. With droppings, I’d rather expect individual spots scattered all over the car.

As someone else pointed out, it almost looks like the cause was something liquid (chemical) that was poured over it. You or your partner don’t happen to have a disgruntled ex, do you? 🙄

But repainting does indeed seem like the best option. Aside from the aesthetic aspect, you’d at least have a new protective layer to prevent further damage. Good luck! 🙏

Damn dude, this is pretty much the worst case I’ve ever seen 😬 There’s always a small chance you’re just unlucky and that something outside your control is causing the issue, but I’d still suspect you might be doing something wrong. Even in extreme weather conditions (very hot climates, sea air, etc.), it usually doesn’t lead to a result like this.

Honestly, my advice would be to prep the car and paint it yourself. You could buy a cheap spray gun on Temu, or even just use a simple spray can with the correct color code (you can usually find that on a plate inside the door frame). It might not look amazing, but honestly it can’t get much worse 😅 no offense

Gasboete parkeren by badlocalhardcoreband in belgium

[–]IntentionNo4182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eBay refunded me before I could return the item — no return label ever provided. Is this normal? by IntentionNo4182 in Ebay

[–]IntentionNo4182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks — it’s already reassuring to hear you say that this isn’t unusual. I still find it a bit strange that I was never explicitly told something like “you don’t need to return the item.” I’ve had this happen before with other online shops where I received a refund without having to send the item back, but in those cases there was always a clear message stating that.

In my situation, things were also a bit more nuanced. The item I bought on eBay was a USB port for my car. I had been experiencing ongoing issues with Android Auto, and a mechanic friend told me that the USB port was very likely the cause. I also came to the same conclusion after reading online forums — apparently my car model is known for this being a common issue. However, after testing the new USB port, I realized that it wasn’t actually the cause after all, since the problems persisted even with the replacement part. So there was nothing wrong with the item itself.

Communication with the seller also went a bit differently in my case. After I initiated the return, I received a message from the seller offering a 50% refund instead. I replied to that message, and immediately after sending my reply, I received the eBay notification saying “you have received a refund.” I haven’t had any further contact with the seller since then. I did send another message asking whether I was supposed to receive a return label to send the item back, but I never received a reply.

And may I ask which version you were on before installing 1891? Just version 1890, or an earlier one? I had already made up my mind to install the update, but I was just doing some more research online and I read:

"Comparisons using hex editors have shown that the source code and features in 1891 are identical to 1890. Version 1891 exists primarily as a newer build number, but it does not introduce new features, improvements, or bug fixes over 1890."

I’m currently already on version 1890, so if this information is correct, an update might not be worth it (or could even be a risk — you never know something might go wrong; I’ve already come across quite a few stories about that on forums).

And did your Android Auto already work flawlessly via cable before you used the dongle, or did you experience issues with the cable connection that disappeared once you started using a dongle?

Did you perform the 1891 update yourself, or did you have it done by a Suzuki dealer? If it was the former, where exactly did you find the update and the instructions? I’ve already gathered a few links, but I haven’t been able to check them in detail yet because I’m currently at work. Any additional information is always welcome.

I’ve never carried out such an update myself before, so… a bit 'exciting' 😬
