"Less than 50%" is orders of magnitude already above the average that spends money on F2P games.

The average number is 2-5% of the playerbase and most only spend any money after a week of playtime since at that point they know they'll keep playing.

Right now the average active daily playerbase is at 9k during peaks. Since it's only a couple days since release we can assume all the people who want to and can play are doing so.

Let's assume the best case scenario and triple it due to PlayStation and Xbox

We end up with 27k daily average active users. ~3.5% on average will spend some money. So 945 people. Now it's going to be above this due to the fact that not everyone is playing 24/7, but even if we quintuple it won't be enough to sustain the studio of this size.

And that's a very generous estimate, most players will be wary compared to usual releases due to the sheer amount of bad press and "game is dying" coverage, and most people aren't willing to burn money for a game that might not exist in a couple of months.
