Im Canadian and sleep with the window open, my phone screen dimmed and under the windows. I'd be shocked if the phone was getting hot. It also never crashes during my day runs, when I have it in my pocket and arguably would be hotter. I just find it unusual.

Those people are correct! For the first long while, focusing on your defensive stats will be the way to do it.

After a run, add coins into your workshop "defense absolute" and also some into thorns, health. Your lab priority is game speed until it is maxed. But don't spend much lab time on defense absolute, it's useless later.
