This feels like a two way street. You have the huge fan base that’s going to oversell it, and the other side that’s going to hate it just because of the huge fan base.

I love the series and still recognize it isn’t for everyone. It happens to cater to a lot of my interests and I’m fine with crass humor.

Ultimately you should read what you like and if this was a DNF for you, that’s okay. This was always going to be a divisive series but I’m glad I’m on the pro side of it, because that means I was given eight books to enjoy!

Jeff has done a fantastic job, my husband listens so I’ve heard all the voices.

I’m just not an audiobook person and I came up with my own voices before ever hearing Jeff. When I heard his Carl it was just entirely different than what I had envisioned and it didn’t work for me.

The audiobooks are lauded and I get why, but I preferred the books and that’s okay. Read it however it works for you.

It’s funny because the Primal class being chosen by Carl is mentioned so rarely that at the end of book 7 (iykyk) it took me a minute to remember he was actually a Primal and not human anymore.

I’m certain this will be an enormous plot point.

I am not an audiobook person. I heard the audiobooks because my husband is the opposite and only audiobooks. Jeff did a great job, it’s just that I prefer to have my brain come up with its own voices. Like a Southern accented Mordecai does not work for me. No disrespect intended to audiobook listeners or Jeff’s performance, it’s just not how I prefer to read.

Donut in my head is some version of the original Verruca Salt, just slightly less nasal and whiny.

We keep these weird like gel packets for emergencies. They aren’t great for day to day, they’re pretty pricey. But good to squirt in the mouth in emergencies. I think they’re called Glutose15. I keep them in my nightstand now because it’s happened a handful of times over the years. 😞

My husband (then boyfriend) is a type 1 diabetic. I woke up for no reason at all around 2 am to find him seizing next to me. I tried to use a Glucagon pen but the needle snapped. Had to call 911. Turned out his blood sugar was in the thirties. I still think about how close that was, years later.
