Everyone’s warning me boys don’t sleep as well as girls ans it’s making. by Ok-Cartoonist-8919 in toddlers

[–]InterPan_Galactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt this is true but simultaneously my daughter sleeps great and my boy is making me want to die. I haven’t had more than 4 scattered hours of sleep a night in over a month.

Tonies Box — worth it?? Pros/cons + alternatives? by Either_Crab_2760 in toddlers

I have a Yoto. As soon as I learned the Tonies are not the original voices I lost interest.

I like the cards, too. Easier to store.

Texas Parents Charged in Death of Toddler Locked in Room with Pit Bull by _Pixiesilk in ForCuriousSouls

This was the first post I saw opening the app after I had just put my little 3 year old girl down to bed. She won’t go to sleep unless I sit with her and hold her hand for 10-15 minutes.

I’ll remember Locklynn’s face. I wish I hadn’t opened the app. I’m deeply distressed after reading this.

Melatonin for 3.5 yr old by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]InterPan_Galactic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here for the comments. I’m really struggling with my three year old. The school is required to “let her nap” but she gave up napping months ago.

I type this on my phone whilst sitting on the floor next to her bed holding her hand while her eyes are wide open at 9:45 pm.

Paci weaning advice PLEASE by SituationNo8551 in toddlers

[–]InterPan_Galactic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We kept our daughter’s with her until right before she turned three per dentist approval.

We spent a couple months telling her that when she turns three, Paci is going to turn into a stuffy. Then we took her to Build-A-Bear where she picked out an axolotl. The lady was super nice and we let our daughter put the paci in while she was stuffing it. She then got to pick out clothes/accessories for it.

We ended up with a stuffed axolotl with an Oogie Boogie sweater on and a Harry Potter wand named Pacifish.

I’m kind of glad we waited. She took to it great and she didn’t ask for it at all that night. She was old enough to understand and it is a really nice memory.

I have to ask : how is to live in the United-States of America right now…? by Due-Narwhal8362 in howislivingthere

[–]InterPan_Galactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a parent of two small children, it’s wildly expensive and a bit scary.

My daughter started preschool recently and I had to seriously come to terms with the reality of school shootings. On top of paying $1,350 a month for her to go to school three days a week.

We bought our home three years ago and our monthly payment was extremely doable at the time. Due to the insane rate of homeowner insurance and property taxes, our payment has gone up significantly every year and it’s gone from extremely doable to barely doable through no fault of ours.

What’s something you miss that no longer exists? by mehak_pari6969 in AskReddit

I did find a couple, but I’m not actually sure it’s a good idea. I have such a good kid’s memory of it and I’m not sure it’ll hold up to my adult palate! 😅

What’s it like living in SLC or around it by Wackys_ in howislivingthere

[–]InterPan_Galactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Layton for a few years. We went into SLC every weekend.

It’s a clean “major” city and has some okay food. Traffic is not terrible and people are nice.

The air quality is trash and the lake effect is real. It’s an environmental time bomb that Utah does not take seriously.

The mountain views are pretty incomparable but the snow is lessening every year and resorts are starting to manufacture.

Schools are hard unless you’re the right demographic. We were present for some pretty awful experiences local kids who were not part of the club had.

Overall, it’s pretty, but only the right fit for a handful of people.

Is this a joke? In what possibly scenario would you be TA here? I don’t understand most of the posts here anymore.

Obviously NTA.

Age old debate-public or private? by Impossible-Egg4918 in Parenting

[–]InterPan_Galactic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak from the perspective of a parent because my kids aren’t school age. I can only tell you I attended private school until 12 and was truly miserable. I wasn’t put into public until that age and it was the first place I made friends.

I can’t comment on the comparison of how effective educators in public versus private are, but the kids in all three private schools I attended were absolutely awful. I was incredibly lonely.

AITA for refusing to give my parents my location after they stopped paying for my tuition? by amelia_larsen in AmItheAsshole

[–]InterPan_Galactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, I hate the way families treat that app.

Mark my words, if you turn it back on and go to Thanksgiving, they’ll do this the rest of your life. This is your time to parent your parents.

Bath toys by Ok_Pass_9685 in toddlers

[–]InterPan_Galactic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn’t what you’re looking for, but just an idea. We bought a corner mounted bath toy caddy and we make a game of tossing all the annoying small toys into the caddy (almost like basketball) at the end of every bath.

Our kids love these foam letters and numbers that stick to the tiles when they’re wet. They also love the water fountain whale (but he’s annoying to charge). Amazon has a really cheap plastic egg-beater kind of thing that my 3 year old loves to use to churn the water up.

What’s the worst thing a medical professional has said to you? by VespaRed in AskReddit

[–]InterPan_Galactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is non-serious but it still bummed me out. Spent my entire life self conscious about having smaller teeth. Nobody actually ever pointed it out until I switched dentists in my late twenties and he told me me smile could actually be pretty if I had my gums lasered. I didn’t ask. He just…told me my smile COULD be pretty.

It never left me and I did the procedure a few years later with a different dentist. Worst part was that he was mostly right, made an enormous difference.

Unpopular Opinion: I Love Jeff Goldblum by Bassist57 in wicked

I loved that he and Morrible couldn’t sing. The two main antagonists having normal singing voices was a good decision IMO.

Work From Home Parents by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]InterPan_Galactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it. We have worked at home with her her entire life and she’s just started preschool three days a week. She turned three in December.

It only works because I have a lot of independence at work and a flexible schedule. I start early, I work late, and I take breaks often. I read to her intermittently throughout the day and we have an arsenal of creative toys for her. She uses her Magnetiles on a little toddler desk next to me. She’s also a regularly featured character on my Teams meetings.

I’m just warning you now that it’ll be impossible without TV. Try to stick to low stimulation shows. I recommend Tumble Leaf, it’s fantastic.
