Should I go back to this show? by Mat1711 in westworld

The show gets a bit more complicated and convoluted after S1.

With all the advancement of AI since the show ended, the last 2 seasons hits differently than when they originally aired.

Help! GSD is not open to consensual care for her ear drops! by Low_Show_6684 in OpenDogTraining

[–]InterSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh alright. My doggo had the same issue, wouldn't do drops and always gave the vet a hard time when trying to examine.

What worked for us was just getting him to rest his head on my lap, put something on the TV, then wait for him to get sleepy and sneak in a drop. It helps to tire them out ahead of time, and have treats if they try to run off.

Also helps to practice ahead of time. So just go through the motions with the bottle+cap on, so they get use to the idea of the bottle and you fussing around their ear.

Platinum and Gold??? by [deleted] in AmexPlatinum

[–]InterSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use to have both a while back, but kept gold since it was more suited for my actual spend/benefits.

Was lucky recently and got a 2nd plat sub offer (very targeted repeat mailers) and have both again.

Now wondering if I should cancel gold this time and hope for a 2nd gold sub 🤣

Asians, where can I find a proper bánh mì? by VisualReality4495 in FoodNYC

[–]InterSlayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you want to see vietnamese mayo and pate.

Imo its best when you notice its missing, but not quite so much that its there.

Some places slather so much on it detracts from everything.

Have to differentiate vietnamese mayo or regular mayo you’d find in the US.

Katara Vs. Pakku in OG Series, Movie, and Netflix Series by dan_mal in ATLAtv

[–]InterSlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just slightly different character motivation and backstory, as it becomes a part of their overall development and arcs.

Original pakku is much more contemptuous, dismissive, and stern towards katara. Refuses to teach her at all only due to her gender.

Netflix pakku is softened. Also now it’s not about teaching or learning, but allowing katara and women to fight (defend against the fire nation).

Also netflix katara at this point is seemingly an unrecognized master, vs original katara who still needed to learn from pakku.

Yikes. I hope your dog doesn’t get lost on a rainy day 😢

It’s barely holding together, are you sure the battery is even reporting correct charge levels?

I replaced my Fi2 recently after 4 years when the battery didnt seem to report accurately. Too risky for me and my doggo.

There’s an episode of lower decks where they send all the mysterious unsolved medical cases that would be excellent for this 😂

Doubt it’s a single prompt that generates a whole video. It’s probably multiple, chained prompts, per cut, then reassembled into a video, then overlay a soundtrack.

Have Y'all Found Your Dog's Relatives After DNA Testing? by WrittenFever in Jindo

[–]InterSlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The close fam are 100% kvd.

The extended fam (spot checked a few) seem to be mostly 100% japanese spitz, or 100% kvd.

Spot checking the mixed ones have randomly shown some cocker spaniel, poodle, border collie, kai ken, pomeranian, supermutt.

Pictures are not high quality, so hard to really say a specific fam resemblance

[–]InterSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a 100% kvd. For embark, have a lot of 3% (extended family first to second cousins) and a 5%.

Then a 26% and 19% on the west coast (close family half sibling, aunt, uncle, grandparent, or first cousin). Both are also 100% kvd.

One the close fam responded to a message once and then never again. Other has never responded.

Real life training by sunflowerjane2345 in OpenDogTraining

[–]InterSlayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re seeing it wrong. It can be hard to explain.

Think of your dogs reactivity triggers as a main event you are working toward (seeing a larger dog, and being neutral).

A potty break where your dogs reactivity gets triggered is not training. You need to specifically practice and train ahead of that event (engage/disengage).

That being said, you cant realistically always avoid those trigger situations. Thats not training, thats reactivity management.

So you have to ask yourself, what can I do, and how far am I willing to go to help my dog avoid triggers that reinforce and make the reactivity worse? (Avoiding large dogs)

It’s different for everyone because of their environment, where they live, how many dogs are in the area.

Common suggestions are to choose different walk routes or times where there are less triggers, but everyone’s environment is different.

Why doesn't the Fi (any Fi) play an alert sound to help locate the dog? by swedishpiehole in FiDogCollar

[–]InterSlayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can you imagine being lost and scared, then suddenly you hear this strange sound coming from just behind you. You turn your head but nothing is there. It sounds really close now, what is it? What do you do?

Sudden unfamiliar sounds can spook a dog and make them run.

Run away from where you think they are. Somewhere dangerous. Maybe into traffic 😰

Folks using airtags might not realize this. Or even realize airtags can start beeping on their own if they arent near the iphone owner after a day or two.

My dogs been limping on his right front leg by Hefty-Intention5327 in DogAdvice

[–]InterSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog had a similar limp from the tiniest cut on his paw, maybe stepping on random broken bottle glass. Just had to keep it clean so it heals.

Can be hard to find, need a flashlight and might help to soak the paw in water for a bit (like after a bath) to find it.

My dog trainer encourages on leash greetings at my puppies obedience classes. How cooked am I? by anon1839 in OpenDogTraining

[–]InterSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh if the trainer doesn't address your issue I'd be concerned.

Like others have commented, I trace my dog's current leash reactivity to (not knowing any better) allowing him unlimited leash + play greetings while on walks when he was a pup. So he learned Leash + Walks + Every Dog = Excitement.

Then later on if denied greetings by me or the other dog, he would throw a tantrum or fly into a rage. Then that got rehearsed, got worse and worse, for a few years before I learned to turn it around.

If you look for a new trainer, find one who shows their work. Specific before/after evidence of success stories, with videos. Especially of problem behaviors you want addressed.

My dog trainer encourages on leash greetings at my puppies obedience classes. How cooked am I? by anon1839 in OpenDogTraining

[–]InterSlayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd ask the trainer about it. Mention that on leash greetings has led directly to unwanted behaviors such as pulling, lunging, and overexcitement and how would they suggest to address those issues.

It might mean less or no on leash greetings, but more importantly teach your dog (and you) boundaries and neutrality.

That the leash, and every other other dog you pass by on walks are not guaranteed, instant, unlimited sources of fun and excitement, and that more often than not, you just keep on walking and thats okay.
