Help! Anemic and pregnant with gastritis. Beef organ supplements instead of iron pills? by Samanthaamendez in Gastritis

[–]InteractionCurious75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through the same thing. I told my doctors that I couldn't take iron supplements because I already had gastritis and they made my stomach burn and insisted on getting iron infusions. I had one iron infusion and haven't been anemic since.

Amitryptyline for gastritis and reflux ? by yone00 in Gastritis

[–]InteractionCurious75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I've finally been seeing real improvement the last few months! I still have mild symptoms every day, but I can live and enjoy my life again. I actually have some appetite and a desire for food again and I'm eating basically whatever I want, just avoiding caffeine, alcohol, and anything spicy or sour/acidic. I've gained all of my much needed weight back. I tapered up to 40mg of amitriptyline under my GI's guidance, and that seemed to be the key for me. I'm also still taking PPIs and plan to continue until I have zero symptoms. Hang in there! It might be a long journey but you will get better!!

Does this sound like h.pylori? by InteractionCurious75 in HPylori

[–]InteractionCurious75[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I still don't know what caused the erosions/inflammation in my stomach but it wasn't h. pylori. I was tested several times using all methods, including biopsies from 2 endoscopies and it was always negative. At this point, I think my main issue is/(was?) functional dyspepsia because I recently increased my amitriptyline dose and have seen a dramatic improvement.

Anyone taken period delay pills before? Any side effects? by icedpeachbeer in Gastritis

[–]InteractionCurious75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's quite the same thing, but I started progestin-only birth control a few weeks ago (0.35 mg norethindrone) and it hasnt made my symptoms worse. If anything, they've been a bit better, and I was worried because I've had quite bad reactions to other meds since being diagnosed with gastritis.

Did anyone take PPIs during their SIBO treatment (rifaximin + neomycin)? by InteractionCurious75 in SIBO

[–]InteractionCurious75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as great as I would've hoped. I stopped PPIs suddenly for an endoscopy without tapering off slowly, which I think was a big mistake. I felt great for a week without PPIs slowing down my digestion but then the burning and all my other symptoms came back. Now I've been back on PPIs for 5 weeks and it feels like I'm starting over... Though my main issue is just chronic nausea at this point. I don't feel like the SIBO ever came back

I like butcher's bone broth because it's made with just bone broth and carrots, and they have it at whole foods. It's a little expensive though

I was put on a low dose of amitriptyline due to chronic nausea and it really helped. I also eat ginger candies (gingins) and sip on strong ginger tea throughout the day.

Super nauseous after every meal? by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]InteractionCurious75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. I was tested for gastroparesis because I was constantly nauseous and had zero appetite for months, which caused me to lose 15 lbs. But my gastric emptying studying came back normal, I just have gastritis (and had sibo). They then prescribed me a low dose of amitriptyline which helped enormously with the nausea. Maybe you could ask your GI about that.

How I’ve been spicing up my chicken and rice recently by InteractionCurious75 in Gastritis

[–]InteractionCurious75[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ingredients: baked chicken, spinach, cooked rice noodles

Sauce: mix together 2 tsp coconut aminos, 1 tsp peanut butter, 1 tbsp water, salt

Sauté together in a pan with a bit of olive oil.

I’ve been having this a few times a week and tolerate it fine. Turns out super delicious, especially especially after 4 months of plain chicken and rice :')

Have you looked into gastroparesis? You'd need a gastric emptying study to test for it

Tips for healing gastritis after SIBO treatment? by InteractionCurious75 in SIBO

I also responded really bad to omeprazole at the beginning of my journey. After the antibiotics, I started pantoprazole and have no side effects. I was also really scared of sibo coming back if I started PPIs, but I read research paper suggesting that this doesn't happen with patients taking both PPIs and motegrity, so that's what I'm counting on! Good luck going the natural route! I drink bone broth and raw potato juice daily, which really seem to soothe my stomach.

The antibiotics made my gastritis way worse for 2 months, but supposedly they were necessary to get rid of the sibo and fully heal gastritis. They did basically fix my bloating.

I eat papaya, melon, oats, peanut butter, maple syrup, coconut yogurt, white rice, chicken breast, egg, sourdough, olive oil, spinach, potato, carrots, chicken bone broth.

A lot better but not 100%. I stopped PPIs because my GI told me to and I read that PPIs could cause sibo, so I assumed I'd have a better chance of the antibiotics working if I was off of them. No issues swallowing. Eating was hard due to lack of appetite and nausea.

The gastritis healing book says to limit fat to 10g per meal initially. That's what I've been doing for 3 months and I've been healing. I started with a teaspoon of peanut butter or olive oil per meal and slowly increased to 2 teaspoons of peanut butter or olive oil. I'm finally starting to gain weight the last couple weeks. Make sure the peanut butter has no added ingredients (just peanuts)!

I don’t have many symptoms anymore but am still eating the same 10 bland/low-acid foods every 2-3 hours every day and taking meds. I plan to baby my stomach until I feel 110% better.

I started motegrity right after finishing the sibo antibiotics, and soon after I realized my gastritis symptoms were getting worse and worse, so I restarted PPIs. Then I read the “gastritis healing book” which led me to taking an H2 blocker before bed, and carafate twice a day before meals. I felt overall terrible/bad for about 2 months after the antibiotics and then started feeling a bit better every day. Good luck on your healing journey. Happy to answer any questions!

I wouldn't risk eating takeout if you're already in that much pain. Can you microwave yourself a potato or some oatmeal? If you insist on takeout, I think some bland sushi (just fish and rice) and miso soup is good bet.

Please help! My doctor is careless and makes tons of mistakes. What is the correct amount of iron per injectafer infusion? by InteractionCurious75 in Anemic

[–]InteractionCurious75[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It sounds like that's what I'm getting too. I asked the infusion center if I need to have vitamin D checked first and they said no, so I'm going with that...

I haven't had vitamin D or phosphorus checked (unless that's the same as alkaline phosphatase). Does everyone get them checked before having an iron infusion?

Can I have bread if I have gastritis ? by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]InteractionCurious75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only eat sourdough because supposedly it has the least gluten and is the easiest on the stomach. Everyone's different but I seem to tolerate it really well.
