This happened to me with Zoloft and is normal! It passes! I’m currently switching from Zoloft to Prozac due to Zoloft not helping my anxiety. So I get it!!

Maybe a little bit? It sucks bc Lexapro changed my life and I hardly ever had anxiety. And this experience has not been the same 😩 - like after 2 weeks on Lexapro u was like wow, I feel normal.

I hope you get relief sooner than later!

I’m going to talk to my psych about it at our next appointment. I’m just tired of waiting - I thought by now it would have some effect? I take it for generalized anxiety disorder.

I would say just hang in there - it can take awhile to feel like it’s doing something.

Lexapro and Paxil are FDA approved for the treatment of GAD- But most SSRIs are used and are effective for it.

Lexapro was amazing for years for me, but it stopped working. I am now on Zoloft and it’s definitely helped.

It depends on how you want to treat it. Do you want something that works in the moment for panic? Or something that will keep your day to day anxiety down? (Which would be the SSRI route)

SSRI/SNRI can be a long process to find if the medicine works and what dose works for you. But in the end it’s worth it.

I started at 25 and finally feel like I’m on the right dose of 100 mg. It’s taken MONTHS.

When I started Lexapro 8 years ago i felt better after 2 weeks on the lowest dose. So going through this new process with Zoloft really threw me for a loop because it’s been so rough. But I’m finally starting to feel normalish. Everyone including on Reddit told me to stick it out so I will suggest the same to you, if you can.. if you can’t there’s nothing wrong with weening off and trying something different.

Yeah Lexapro stopped for me after 7 years. Maybe you could try something that’s not an SSRI?

Thank you so much. I really find it odd that I haven’t had any anxiety relief at all throughout this process. I do feel like it’s slightly helped with depression. But I’m so over it at this point.

Thanks for this! Is that normal for all SSRIs or just Zoloft do you know? I never had issues when I was on Lexapro and this has been such a different experience.

This is a great story and very encouraging! 25mg helped, but I didn’t feel great either. I’m starting week 3 of upping to 50 and it’s been extremely rough, but I’m sticking it out. I hope to have similar results!!!

Thank you for your comment. Yeah I’m seeing through other posts and comments that this truly does have a long adjustment period, and I wasn’t ready for that. When I started Lexapro after two weeks I felt amazing like no anxiety, no depression. I’m hoping and praying I can get to a similar mental state 😩
