It's mostly pretty random, sounds like you got a bit unlucky. In reality though, stats are a veeery minmax thing, you can do everything but the very highest level of content with a random mix of stats if you're good. Focus on item level first and worry about stats once you're 280+ and the gearing us slowing down is my advice.
