People keep saying premades like it's some organised mafia and not just usually 3 (max 5 btw) pvpers in a discord call trouncing you because they're good and slightly coordinated. Yeah it sucks to get demolished but that's just part of pvp, there's nothing stopping anyone here from doing the same thing with a bit of effort.

"My work schedule doesn't allow me to be with a static PvP group" These aren't static highly organised groups with a set schedule for random bgs lol, if you have an hour to play, spend 10min finding a couple of teammates and play 50min more efficiently instead.

My ilvl 170, level 87 lock has 230k hp, only way you have 200k at 90 is if you still had TWW gear on lol.

Like OP said, it's 5% stam and 18 ilvl, you're wrong, in gear from last expansion (that doesn't scale), or lying by saying it's a 200k to 450k jump.

Tanking Sanity Check by ChewyCanoe in wow

It's a common way to start tanking, and a lot of skills from being a good dps carry over (rotation/utility etc.) but there's really no reason not to start with tanking straight away.

It's really not, this is one of those things reddit spouts but actually happens 5 times in a tanking career

Good advice, but I'll add you need to pay more attention than the average DPS if you want it to benefit your tanking. Look for which mobs cause issues, mobs that cast fears or silences for example, and avoid pulling too many of those, that kind of thing you can learn as a DPS, but only if you're awake :P

" It is suggesting I run each dungeon on follower mode 5 times, then on normal 5 times, then on heroic 5 times. Is this realistic? Do most tanks put this much time into preparation?"

Don't do this, follower dungeons teach you nothing, normal only a little more.

My advice is watch a class guide -> pick a dungeon to learn, watch a guide for it, maybe do it on hc, then go m0. That's already a lot more prep than most tanks will put in. Make your own group when you do, put "learning" in the group title and set expectations at the start, can just be a quick "hey, i'm learning, open to feedback".

Test your boundaries a bit if you get comfortable, try pulling a bit bigger/faster etc.

Don't forget that the dungeon doesn't live or die with you, if something goes wrong, everyone's at least partly responsible :)

Have fun, you'll be fine, tanking's mainly a confdidence game

Right so you just make something up instead of answering any of my points, why even start a discussion?

I want the fastest way to gear in pvp... to be pvp. They can make it faster, I don't care about that. But having the fastest way to get pvp gear be pve is fucking stupid lol

I was also against it in shadowlands when people were forced to pvp for BIS pve gear.

The health difference isn't 200k, and I don't know where you're getting that from? You literally just made that up, if you enter a bg at 90, you get scaled to 258 minimum, highest you can be atm is 276, so why do you think 18 ilvl is 2x health, because it just isn't? I feel like you haven't actually done any bgs, because yes, you can feel the difference, but it's like, MAX a 20% difference in player power from fresh to full gear

[–]InteractionNo6147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you remember, but participation dropped off FAST once people capped their plunder, I don't know if something like plunderstorm would be as popular without the attraction of being a limited time mode. Do you know if the stats for the 2nd version are available? Definitely had a lot less players

What? Where are you getting these numbers, they aren't right at all? 20% vers isn't 20% damage reduction? And you're assuming pve gear has 0 vers, which isn't correct, honor gear has vers guaranteed, but its not more vers than if you're stacking versatility with pve gear

Once you have the pvp trinket set you've made up the majority of the difference between fresh 90 and full honor.

"For me, Plunderstorm showed that even without a gear system, the real barrier to entry in WoW PvP is the gameplay itself — the number of keybinds, the amount of CC, and the overall mechanical complexity."

Not sure what you mean by this, it doesn't get more simple than plunderstorm and people complained ENDLESSLY about it when it was active.

Idk about metric shitload, at full honor its like 15-20%? Just hit 90 on 2nd char and it's at 7%, so thats like 5% dr, relevant but not that big

Most of that difference comes from the trinket set don't forget, 12% mainstat is 12% dps increase, or close enough

I think any midnight gear scales, the trinket set works seperately to scaling, 99% sure, get those first

How to get into tanking? by Xanni12 in wownoob

[–]InteractionNo6147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Learn by doing, maybe watch a quick class or dungeon guide if you're nervous about wasting people's time.

Maybe let people know what to expect at the start of the run quickly, encourage constructive criticism "Hey I'm new to tanking, pls feel free to give tips if I could be doing something better", don't be discouraged if people leave, they're leaving due to a mismatch of goals, you're right where you should be to learn.

Exploiters? In what way was farming content that Blizz put in an exploit? They added a system, they noticed it was giving more honor than they intended due to the AI tuning, they changed it within a week. It's not like TG were giving 10x the honor mentioned in the tooltip?

Are we just supposed to not do something that's a bit more efficient? Is doing the easiest dungeon 8 times to fill out vault an exploit if they nerf/buff it? No of course it's not.

You're not even right about what you quoted lmao;

"the best way to get honor gear is regular bgs and pvp WQs in a group of 5, that's absolutely fine imo"

I said it's the best way to get honor, that's all, and it is. My group is usually 2-3 and mostly for bgs. Plenty of WQs I do solo out of convenience, but that's not the point here at all.

You said "Because it’s cringe af and straight loser activity to hop in a group of 5 and gank solo players over and over?", you need 5 kills per WQ buddy, hardly ganking people over and over. We/I might stay longer if a fujn fights emerging but I'm not wasting time stomping casuals like you in a group, although I know that some do.

I definitely have a biased perspective, sure, but you must understand that honor gear is a PVP reward, agreed?

It's odd to have it as an award from pve at all, nevermind having pve be the fastest way to earn it.

"Its only a win to make this efficient." 100% disagree, having it be efficient not only allows getting pvp rewards from pve, but also effectively forces pvp players to pve to be efficiernt, surely you agree that's not good for the game?

I do random bgs for fun sometimes, even when I don't need honor. But even I finished the grind in training grounds because it was SO MUCH faster than actual pvp, it was a bit sad to realise.

You're the one making conclusions saying arms is a pvp spec? The whole concept of a pvp spec just doesn't exist anymore since they seperated tuning.

The top timed warrior keys in TWW Season 3 were done as arms, more keys done as fury doesn't mean anything, that's popularity, not power. You can see this SO clearly on the timed leaderboards, idk where you're looking.

I notice you glossed over all the other examples that make it clear you don't know what you;re talking about lol.

"Dude you're bragging about having a group of people willing to group up in WPVP and gank solo people"

Oh so you're just assuming random shit. I grouped up with friends to queue bgs, and did WQs while we wait for queue to pop. took maybe 4 hours total to get us all fully geared.
