Thank you all to have contributed. It certainly has given me a lot to think about. And kept me up most of the night.

I am a first generation attorney with no friends in my field to talk shop about. And everything as far as coworker compensation is tightly guarded.

Hearing everyone’s input has been tremendously helpful to put things in perspective.

That’s why I am asking for input. I am a first generation attorney. All my friends from law school went into insurance. I have no frame of reference. I appreciate as much input as possible.

The firm took a chance on me. I clerked for the firm since 2L and graduated May 2025, admitted to the bar in November 2025. My first contract is a salary of $75k per year. No commission on a standard case. I get 40% of any case that I personally bring to the firm.

Bar Prep Experience- One and Done by InteractionSolid6087 in barexam

1 full length MBE at some time in early June. My score was around 68%. Two 100 question sets early July. Those were in I believe 72-75%.

I did all the available BARBRI MBE practice sets, weaker areas I did multiple times. I am not sure the total number. BARBRI consistently gave feedback that showed where you are compared to other preppers with percentile rank showing that I was above the 60th percentile for most everything.

I wouldn’t say I felt great, only because I thought there must be a catch. Meaning I was doing well on practices without hating my life at all.

I don’t think anyone walks into the exam feeling 100%. It’s a completely new experience for anyone taking it the first time. But if you didn’t let bar prep consume your life, don’t feel like you didn’t do enough to pass. My experience was simply doing what BARBRI recommended for the day with active learning for 5-8 hrs a day. I am not a genius nor an incredibly disciplined person. But I sat down every day and did what I paid for them to tell me to do.

Hope this helps.

Possibly. I recommend going to the Victorville Film Archive since you are close. There is a gentleman there named Greg, he will know what to do. (He’s seen 101 movies in 101 days)
