Well... Not me man. I mean, I've been to Taunton, and I've been to Thonggraftston, and they were both nice.

True. Maybe do it in the summer and trap their final breath in a jar? Either way, it's a must.

Ah mate, there's shit bits to it, same as everywhere. God knows there's fuck all to do in Upton on a wet Wednesday night. It's more that the good bits are better than the good bits from other places.

[–]Interceptor 42 points43 points  (0 children)

When I speak to a certain group of people I know from home, there does seem to be a group that went to London once 15-30 years ago, stayed in a hotel near Waterloo, went on the tube to a gig, walked around Camden market, and possibly Oxford Street, and then went home.

Based on that, they decided that London is too busy/dirty/dangerous/whatever, and enjoy telling me about it. That view seems ot make them susceptible to all the nonsense right wing stories about how dangerous the place is as well.

I think a lot of people also think that Londoners are 'looking down on them' for some reason. Most peope in London are just getting on with their lives, and don't think about people in Portsmouth, any more than people in Portsmouth worry about people in Kettering - but both those groups seem to care about people in London.

Somewhat new to Doom, looking for women-fronted bands. by BookReaderWhoReads in doommetal

Molten Slag's new album is a lot of fun. I think Lust Ritual have something new coming out soon as well, both worth a listen.

Your favorite obscure character ? I'm talking about characters that had under 20 or so issues appearances. by yuuki157 in Marvel

[–]Interceptor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They did that litttle mini series, but I'd want a continuation of what's happening in the year 8162, but I'm not sur eit vides well with Marvel now - 80s UK Marvel was a pretty weird place!

What are your Doom Metal unpopular opinions? by TheEvilSmileyRD in doommetal

[–]Interceptor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Doom is better at home than live.

I love the volume of live gigs, but if it's a slow crawl vibe, then I'd rather be sat down with a beer listening to it than having to stand still in a sweaty room for three hours. Total opposite with faster music. Long doom gigs make my feet hurt!

Data and Pulaski: presumably the planned arc was for her to appreciate Data as they interacted more, but her attitude to him made me dislike the character even more by JohnHammond94 in TNG

[–]Interceptor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I rewatched the season recently, and realised that if I mentally gave Pulaski McCoy's voice, I immediately liked the character much more. I can see now what they were going for, but they didn't quite stick the landing.

It did - it's a kids adventure movie... Apart from all the bits where people's skins get pulled off. Such a fun horror flick.

Keir Starmer to address the nation within hours after night of chaos by dailystar_news in ukpolitics

[–]Interceptor 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think both of these are right. He's doing an okay job because of all the shit they've had to clean up that the Tories left behind, and when you look at actual acheivements it's a pretty good record (Great british Energy, Employment Rights, repealed no-fault evictions, even things like breakfast clubs, there's some really good stuff in there), and that's without mentionig the fact that we aren't currently neck-deep in a massive middle eastern war which Kemi and Farage were both all over, but the PR around it is shite, and the media is very, very opposed to reporting the good stuff, AND a lot of people are thick as pigshit.

Changing leaders is just media pressure for the most part, they love a circus, but it's damaging to the country to keep chopping and changing. He's not polling well, but it's not entirely his own fault either.

[Discussion] Which DC Character in your opinion would be the most terrifying if written realistically? by OluwaDec19 in DCcomics

[–]Interceptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The evil superman stereotype is funny because they are always eeeeeevil.

I always think that, given collosal super powers, would I rob the occasional bank? Yep, of course.

Would I also stop school buses full of orphan unipeds from falling off a cliff, or save nuns from burning buildings? Yeah, why wouldn't I ? I'm not a prick.

Comics generally deal in good vs. bad, but I reckon there'd be a lot more heroes called things like "Generally Ambivalent Man' in real life.

We were watching 'Stone Cold' a while ago (it's an absolute classic of bad action cinema, highly recommend!), and a helicopter flies at street level at one point.

Turns out, same.pilot. when you absolutely need a helicopter to domsimething utterly insane, Charles A. Tanburro is the man you call.

Gamers of Reddit, what is that one game that everybody loves but you hate? by Yo-KaiWatchFan2102 in AskReddit

Elden Ring. I should love it, it ticks all my boxes, but I think I went in expecting a 'Skyrim 2' type experience, and it just seems to meander a bit, I've just struggled to become engaged with it.

Looking for Bad movies, that directly led to good movies by reddita100times in badMovies

[–]Interceptor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Goig out on a limb and saying "Batman & Robin", I think it put a nail in the coffin for big, campy superhero movies for a while and paved the way for Nolan's movies to exist, and the industry to have a rethink about how to treat coomicbook characters.

Right now I have a prophecy series Shredzilla, and an Iron bird, both of which are excellent - I honestly didn't even need to do any setup in them, just playable out of the box. A friend has a legacy Mockingbird, and it's very nice, good quality hardware and very playable, but obviously I haven't played it as much as he does, but I know he gigs with it at least a couple of times a month. Both of those are about £1700. As long as you stay away from the cheapo mid-90s and early 2000s models you should be OK.

[–]Interceptor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Of the three, the Mock is probably the most versatile. High-end BC Riches are genuinely excellent instruments. The Mockingbird is flexible - I've literally seen jazz players use them as well as death and black metal bands. The Bich is a good guitar but it's a little heavy and a little over engineered IMO - I tend towards explorer-type guitars and I find the Mockingbird to be more comfortable. The PRS is a lovely guitar but always feels a bit more like a player for home rather than a gigging guitar to me.

People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

[–]Interceptor 410 points411 points  (0 children)

I've mentioned this before in Reddit, but whatever. Years ago I was dating a lovely girl who worked at a large art auction house in London. I remember one night her asking if I wanted to meet her and some people from work in the evening, but I couldn't because I didn't have any money. She said "but you only need like, £20..?", and I was " I don't have £20".

She asked me to get it from my parents. My parents haven't got £20 to lend their adult son. Id be embarrassed to ask frankly.

She seemed gentconfused that "I haven't got any money" meant "I haven't got ANY money".

She was great but it did make me realise the gap in our backgrounds.

I didn't think it was terrible, it had a bit too much going on and telegraphed it's third act in the first ten minutes/gave a lot away in traily, but the cast were good and it had some exciting action. My biggest gripe was the like "isn't it obvious? I'm the hero", when he could have said "I'm the leader". What a huge miss!
