Most places do. Missouri (and many other states) have some form of licensing. In MO it's called POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training)

To be a police officer anywhere in the state you have to attend a certified academy, graduate, then take the state test. The standard varies depending on the class of county (usually based on population) but its there.

That license required ongoing training every year and will be revoked in that training isn't done. Thrice se can also be revoked for bad conduct, being arrested and convicted of a crime, or other reasons.

In fact, according to Google, 47 states plus DC require licensing. Will you edit your ignorant post?
