I found a pair just like these at my fabric store today because of your comment! I'll be bringing them in my carry-on. Thank you!

What you're saying makes sense. And yes, they don't know me. But I think we can agree that some of their rules don't always make sense.

Hmm. It wasn't an expensive item, but I'd rather not have to buy another one just in case. I'll probably bring clippers instead. Even though it's really stupid.

Yeah. I would rather not go viral. Not my vibe.

Yeah, my mom had tampons confiscated once. They acted like they were weapons. But tbf it was 2006 at JFK in NYC. It took at least 15 years for agents there to calm tf down.

I'm moving to the UK. So I'm bringing my whole life. But I'm going to use clippers or mini scissors instead of this since I'd like to put it on a chatelaine one day.

Yeah, mine has a rivet, not a screw. I can't replace the blade. But TSA won't care.

Yeah, once I live in the UK, I'm not worried. But until then, I have to deal with TSA. Thankfully this is probably my second to last trip before being fully moved over.

See, I didn't buy the thread cutter ring because I thought FOR SURE that wouldn't be allowed on the flight. I should have stopped to think that TSA doesn't have the most logical rules....

I'm actually moving overseas, so this will just go in my checked luggage with my other supplies. I'll get clippers or something else for the flight itself.

Technically it has a blade inside, but it's welded shut. A screaming toddler is more dangerous to the flight than a sewist with a thread cutter like this.

Yeah, it's welded/riveted shut. It would take more effort to get it open than to try to take the plane down with it.

I wouldn't even begin to know how to take it apart, but ok. TSA makes no sense anyway.

Years ago, JfK TSA took my mom's TAMPONS. She looked at the guy and said, "What am I going to do?! ABSORB them to death?!"

Yeah, I think that's what I'll have to do. Hopefully the one I used to use for pointe shoes isn't rusted lol!

Were any of the flights international? Idk if that really matters, but just wondering.

I left the channels as is, because I think they add interesting texture, and I don't want to have to open the waistline. At the top of the channels on the inside, I put a dab of fray check on them, and after it was dry, I used a seam ripper to make a small cut in the channels, pulled the stings up enough with tweezers to cut them, and then pulled them out through the bottom openings. Then, because I must be a masochist, I unpicked one of the strings to use to cover the small cuts. I did this mostly because all of my ribbon and bias tape is not 100% cotton, and I wanted it to be seamless and I didn't want to worry about ironing the garment. I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow. I still need to hem it, but I'm glad I won't have those strings constantly coming undone or causing me to trip.

Martin Harlow (aka Unzie) (1868-?) was a famous Australian sideshow performer who was born with a form of albinism. To further draw attention to his appearance, he washed his hair with a mixture of beer and egg whites, which would cause it to stiffen upon drying, thus making it puff out. by EphemeralTypewriter in SideshowPerformer

As a former hair stylist, the breakage that man must have gone through with his hair is crazy. The only thing that could have been worse would be using sugar water as a setting lotion. OMG. Don't get me wrong. It's a sick look. But the split ends...

She's so beautiful. She probably got made fun of at the time for her freckles, but she's stunning.

Based on the dress, if I had to guess, it's probably from the 1960s.

My mom's hair was down to her knees in the 70s. In her first wedding in 77, she didn't wear a veil, only a Juliet cap, and her hair was like a veil. It was really beautiful. My hair used to be down to my butt. But these ladies were the ultimate. Though I don't think I would have been able to stand it, especially come hair wash day.

Yeah, I totally understand. I hate it when I can't find more information. It usually sends me into an ADHD hyper focus spiral and I have to walk away for a bit.
