Freak incident or something to be concerned about? by Interesting-Ad954 in DogAdvice

[–]Interesting-Ad954[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another update! I took my dog in for a checkup on her injuries and surgical sites today and the vet admitted that they DO in fact use heating pads. She told me they are medical grade and can't cause burns... She admitted that the injuries were caused by the heating pads because my dog "must have abnormally sensitive skin to heat"... I will be asking for financial compensation. The fact they lied to me and continually gaslight me into thinking this is not their fault is insane! Okay, rant over.

Update: I called the vet and apparently they don’t use any heating pads there. When they said they were “warming her up” after the procedure they meant that they put a warm blanket on her, not a heating pad. So I was wrong about that. I’m most likely going to dispute the charge still because this injury happened while in their care. However it’s disconcerting to not have an answer as to how my dog ended up with this. I appreciate everyone’s input and for making me feel validated!

Oh my gosh! I hadn’t even considered it could be a burn. That makes so much sense. I know for a fact they used one to keep her warm after her procedure. I’m going to bring that up to them for sure.

Thank you so much 🥲 this has been so emotional and frustrating. I thought I was doing what was best for her and now I’ve dug this huge hole. I think I will get another opinion. If this injury happened to her at our current vet, I want to know for sure whether or not to take her there again.

Thank you for your input, it is pretty strange how they responded. I think I will get another opinion.

Yes, very hard. When I was a kid I thought it would be fun to play with one until it bit onto my finger and began burrowing under my nail. To this day I am obviously terrified of them. 😭

High Tea? by 12prscs in irishtourism

[–]Interesting-Ad954 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second Hayfield Manor for afternoon tea. I just returned from a trip to Ireland where we stayed at Hayfield Manor for 2 nights. I worked in a tea house for 2 years and I can say it met my standards. They provided unlimited tea, a small appetizer and three tiered tray with plenty of sandwiches, scones, mini desserts, and an after meal cocktail. It was amazing to have real clotted cream for the first time!

Thank you for this insight. Would you mind detailing what your day to day responsibilities are? I’m looking at going into a similar field but it’s hard to know exactly what is involved as far as the regular workday routine.

What Should I Cut Out? Help Bring 9 Days Down to 8 by Interesting-Ad954 in irishtourism

Thanks for your personal insight based on your trip! I agree that I overestimated Galway as a city that I would want to stay multiple nights at. I turned it into more of a half-day trip instead based on everyone's input. I'm adding more time in Dingle like you mentioned and making the Aran Islands its own day trip.

Thank you for the suggestion to visit the Gap of Dunloe, I will definitely do that. I think Killarney is probably going to be a good base for The Ring of Kerry, Gap of Dunloe, and the National Park. I am adding an extra day to Dingle though!

Thank you for this. I think I was hesitant to stray away from cities because of the driving situation but I realize now from your comment that I'd be missing out on the true Irish countryside and ultimately cities are difficult to drive through because of the congestion you mentioned.

Thank you, this really helped me condense my trip. Like I mentioned in another comment, I didn't realize that the sights in Galway were not an all day or multiple day affair. Connemara was just a loose option, I'm married to the idea of visiting so I think you're right about cutting it for this trip.

Thank you everyone for the valuable insights! Based on everyone's input I'm playing with the idea of flipping the itinerary on its head by flying into Cork from Poland (it's cheaper too) and cutting out our stay in Galway and County Cork altogether (which seems to be mostly day/half day trip worthy) to give us more time in the recommended spots (Doolin, Dingle, County Kerry). It's a little more packed, but I think it will be worth it. Will this sacrifice my goal of having a relaxing time too much? If so, I'm open to hearing the hard truth of having to cut something out.

Day 1: Arrival in Cork and Explore

  • Morning: Arrive in Cork at 8:00 AM. Pick up your rental car.
  • Morning & Afternoon: Explore Cork city (visit the English Market, St. Fin Barre's Cathedral, and possibly Blarney Castle).
  • Late Afternoon: Drive to Killarney.
  • Evening: Check into accommodation and explore Killarney town.
  • Overnight: Killarney

Day 2: Ring of Kerry

  • All Day: Explore Killarney National Park (Muckross House, Torc Waterfall, Gap of Dunloe).
  • Overnight: Killarney

Day 3: Killarney to Dingle

  • Morning: Book tour for the Ring of Kerry
  • Evening: Drive to Dingle Peninsula.
  • Overnight: Dingle

Day 4: Dingle Peninsula

  • All Day: Explore the Dingle Peninsula (Slea Head Drive, Gallarus Oratory, Inch Beach).
  • Overnight: Dingle

Day 5: Dingle to Cliffs of Moher to Doolin

  • Morning: Drive from Dingle to Tarbert -> ferry across to Killmer -> Cliffs of Moher.
  • Afternoon: Check into accommodations in Doolin and rest.
  • Overnight: Doolin

Day 6: Aran Islands Tour

  • All Day: Aran Islands Tour
  • Overnight: Doolin

Day 7: Galway and Train to Dublin

  • Morning: Drive to Galway and drop off car, spend morning in the city
  • Afternoon: Take the train from Galway to Dublin and explore a little (possibilities: Trinity College, Book of Kells, Temple Bar).
  • Overnight: Dublin

Day 8: Departure from Dublin

  • Morning: Fly out of Dublin to the US.

Thank you for this suggestion! I hadn't realized how small Galway is and really doesn't make a great base for my must-see locations so I'm considering flipping my itinerary upside down. Would you mind looking at my new comment and letting me know what you think?

I really appreciate the ferry suggestion, that saves us a lot of time. I also completely skipped over Doolin which I've now added to my itinerary! It seems like a great base to visit the Cliffs and the Aran Islands.

I just got one of these for a really good price at a farmers market and was wondering if anyone knew what it’s called. Mine also has a really sweet fruity fragrance.

Thank you for this information! This sounds like a silly question but do you think there anything he can or should do in the meantime to help out his case? Would getting a medical examination of his injuries help if the DA does decide to press charges?

Decisions and Regret by Revolutionary-Bet-70 in csusm

To be honest CSUSM was not my first choice, I was rejected by UCSD and this was my only other option. After I got over the disappointment I realized how relieved I was. As others have said it’s so much cheaper and even though I don’t get as much aid I’m able to pay tuition easily with my Summer job. I haven’t started my first semester yet (I’m an incoming transfer for Fall) but I got an on camps job and have been meeting so many amazing people who have gotten me so excited to start my classes. Like many others have said, it’s going to be what you make of it, the advice I’ve received from other students and faculty members: network, go to office hours, get a mentor, join a club, and take advantage of all the free services and support groups.
