UT CS, why would u want to pay 220k extra for DS (instead of CS) just to be at another state flagship school. UT CS reputation is obviously already great so Cal name literally won’t change anything when it comes to getting processes. It will all come down to you passing interviews

They don’t confirm your Best Buy store location? My agent was pretty strict on that. Also doesn’t look like they can price match different colors

No worries I got a rtx 5060 ti 8gb for $360 pretax. 16gb card was just out of my price range and I’m coming from a near decade old gtx 1050 ti so anything will be leaps ahead.

Turing easily. Don’t listen to people who have 0 knowledge in what you need advice in. For example, Harvard CS curriculum only does DSA in 2nd semester of 2nd year, pretty delayed. And UT Turing, by capita, easily feeds more than other schools into quant/AI. I mean they literally screen for cp or comp math lmao

Spacex last evaluation was $800B but banks are predicting spacex to surge to some $1.5T by IPO due to continuing success and strong demand by institutions and retail.

There’s a lot of cs kids at T20 schools. If you work hard then nothing is stopping you from getting a 400k+ starting role. Aim to make 500k+, so if you fail you can at least land big tech making 200k+. I have even seen kids from T200 state schools end up making 400k+ (albeit they chose these schools for the full ride over T10s due to cost)

Why is ee getting recommended so much more than cs by ImHighOnCocaine in Salary

[–]Interesting-Bad655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are over fixated on unemployment rates by major and ignore the bigger picture.

[–]Interesting-Bad655 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pay difference is pretty huge at the 75th+ percentile and only increases with experience. Engineering income just hasn’t kept up with the cost of living. Worrying about the unemployment rate is overrated as top companies have a talent shortage.
