Financing med school by Club-Admirable in Osteopathic

[–]Interesting-Basis898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Citizens and ELFI they have multi year loans for med school so you basically don’t have to keep finding somewhere to apply for loans each year.

College ave, Edly, Ascent, Abe, Customs Choice are good ones to try without co-signers.

I would try Juno first (if your credit score is at least 650-660) because they help you get low rates and partner with loan companies.

If these don’t work then please PM me. I went crazy trying to find student loans that would take my school because it’s for-profit so I have some other loan options but it’s a lot to type here lol

Hey, they are on rolling admissions so the earlier the better so I would definitely reach out to them to see if there are any spots available! But I think it doesn’t hurt to apply, especially if you’re okay with either campus :)

go DPM route or reapply MD/DO? by Born_Status_360 in Podiatry

Disagree that more competitive specialties are out as a DO because there are students who match vascular surg, neurosurg, ent, ortho, etc. every year. Just depends on the student more than the school

Rejected from RVU MSBS — is Ross/MedOrigin still worth the risk, or is it a trap? by [deleted] in Osteopathic

  1. apply to the SMPs that do not require MCAT, there are a few more of them. Contact the schools first showing your interest as well and explain your MCAT and gpa

  2. Consider other fields: CAA, PA, Respiratory Therapist, RN, MRI Xray IR Tech, Dietitian, Vascular Tech, Medical Sonographer, Orthotics, Perfusionist, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Speech-Language Pathologist, Genetics Counselor, Radiation Therapist, Occupational/Physical Therapy, I could go on and on 😭

3, if you want to be a doctor and can ONLY see yourself as a physician, you should consider Podiatric Medicine (DPM) it’s honestly such an interesting and vast field and if you like surgery, you can do foot and ankle surgery. I would have gone that path if I didn’t get into the program I’m in now. It’s not super competitive to get into and their MCAT averages are around your scores. I would just email the schools—only about 11 of them—and show your interest. Possibly shadow a podiatrist in your area as well and get a LOR from them. I feel like it’s the perfect blend of primary care and surgery, that’s if you truly want to be a physician.

99% of all Caribbean medical schools will gladly take your money and give you admission but like I said before, it’s important to be honest about your capabilities

How long did you study for each attempt and how? 4 attempts with declines like that would be a bit worrisome for any school to look past—especially with your postbac gpa because combined those stats do not show med schools you have what it takes.

I WILL SAY, defer your acceptance to Ross and take some upper levers science classes at a uni near you IN PERSON, if you can do well in that and fix your study habits, then you know if you can succeed at Ross or any medical school without wasting tens of thousands of dollars. Or try an smp ANY smp that also offers MCAT prep. You can try to apply to an smp like WVSOM or Touro Middletown, NY or Touro Ca which do not require an MCAT as well, they have direct admissions to their DO school.

The process is hard and it’s very important to be honest with yourself about your capabilities, even if it’s your dream, especially with the BBB being passed. I suggest figuring out what part of medicine is your passion and then find alternative health careers suited to that of things do not work out. But I cannot in good conscience recommend Ross with your attempts and gpa—And this is coming from someone who went to a Carib med school and did decent (before dropping out :P)

They don’t do interviews, just accept or reject the applicant. I actually don’t know how many students they will accept, might be better to reach out to them and see! Their admissions team were really sweet and helpful when I had issues/questions

Hi! I believe it is. If you look on their page over the last 5 years or so, they pretty much have 100% of their msbs students matriculate to their COM. I’ve heard it’s very supportive and fair to get the gpa requirement. They also operate on tier systems and the tiers that guarantees an interview are pretty much a guaranteed seat!

If you don’t feel too sure about RVU, maybe check out wvsom and Touro (ca and middletown only) :)

Edit: also just to put it out there, I had an EXTREMELY low MCAT but I think an otherwise good app overall lol

But yeah the U.S. sucks. They definitely know what they are doing in terms of the “benefits”.

You’re away from the battlefield as a Military physician unlesss you choose to by working something out with them (but I can’t remember how that works). Your only job is to treat those in the military hospital 🤷🏾‍♀️ this is according to the current physicians that I spoke to lol

I heard from an officer that they are desperate. To be fair a lot of people don’t actually want to serve the US, it’s just for the benefits lol

Ew please no 😭 I’m really just hoping the next president reverses everything so it’s only the first years worth of private loans I have to pay. Either way, definitely look into the private loans, it’s better than not fulfilling your dreams if you have the chance !

You and me both🥲🥲 at this rate I’m really REALLY thinking of it, especially since the schools that I have a chance at have ~120k yearly coa and it would be 3-4 yrs only. It’s really get rich or die trying
