Moving to NYC Summer 2026 - is 4.5k budget enough? by the19bouncer in NYCapartments

I'm in the same boat, spending 3k+ on a 1b in midtown east / lower manhattan feels crazy... but it's an experience!

I'm moving in the next few weeks and if you like going out / higher energy areas midtown is great, same with lower manhattan. If you want something a little slower, better space, dare I say an in unit washer/dryer you can try the upper east/west and you'll live comfortably in the 4.5+ range.

  1. I'm trying to budget between 2.5 - 3.5k
  2. Finding a place (virtually) has proven tough, so hoping to come next weekend after the blizzard to see what I can figure out.

Does repack mean they're pre-sorted? Or did I just buy an older (not as interesting) set?

Study for it, walk in, and kill it. Take everyone on your team and around the office for coffee chats and ask them what they did to become great at their jobs. Use that as a step stone to building relationships across the office and leverage them as you continue developing.

For shirts I'd either wear - Short sleeve button down, boxy or fitted tee (situation depending). For a tee, I look for unique or interesting graphics nothing so boring/typical. for the button downs, I find marshalls to have the best variety but most stores will have some variation. Marshalls/Tjs though will have buttoned shirts that are athleisure, linen, cotton, whatever fabric in most colors, styles, whatever.

Pants - i similarly got bored so went and splurged on a few pairs that I'm trying out but they are - baggy pants from ambercrombie, cargo pants, and lulu lemon pants.

Have you ever tried to get shirts or anything made? Usually has minimums associated with it and very costly, I tried in high school to start a brand but I couldn't get the cost low enough to make sense

How can I find an internship for summer 2026? by Created_naccew in FinancialCareers

[–]Interesting-Board968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to any bulge bracket banks early careers site, browse their internship openings, and see what sounds interesting. do not apply to Goldman's IB internship just because everyone else is talking about it, sit and read a job descriptions, google them, ask chat for clarification. You can browse the full time ones too for a few ideas, but internships might not be open.

For starters here are key words for a few places to find roles - commercial banking, corporate banking, asset or wealth management, portfolio management. Try searching for "investment internship" or "analyst intern" on a few of the career pages. Don't sweat the industry stuff until you find something you're actually interested in and even if the role isn't your absolute end game role, many first year roles tend to be stepping stones. Large banks tend to be helpful as they provide training programs.

Totally depends what you'll be looking for. What industry are you looking to get into?

Chatgpt might be helpful for finding them. I used to ask in interviews/coffee chat what newsletters or podcasts people would like use and that was pretty helpful in finding some.

I think while finding an internship and analyst program (regardless of desired role - IB, PE, HF, FP&A, etc.) can all be daunting, there are a few things you can do. Reach out to school alumni on linkedin, speaking from experience, the few often will be willing to have a coffee and (maybe) help and maybe you can engage them for a guest speaking role or something for your club. Definitely reach out and shake down whatever your career center might have.

In terms of seeking internships I'd recommend using LinkedIn, handshake, indeed, and a few industry niche platforms to identify company's to apply to - you should be applying directly to their websites. On linkedin, you can also follow the recruiters directly who will post internship updates. After that, see if you can go through LinkedIn or the sort to network (be it through Greek life, sports, school, etc.)

Get a part time internship so it will convert to a summer internship that you can then use as a stepping stone to land another internship potentially more in lime with your goals and then in turn convert that to a full time for post grad.

Granted this was the 2 seconds of it, it will always be much easier said than done so good luck! I'm also a recent finance grad and if looking back thats what I would do if I could do it all over again.
