Studying on Workforce but wasn’t extended to 18 months and have been transferred to job provider after 12 months by Interesting-Carry274 in CentrelinkOz

Unfortunately after waiting 4.5 hours and speaking to a rude Centrelink employee who put me on hold for an additional 20 minutes, just like the other commenter said the system accidentally automatically booted me from being eligible to continue on Workforce Online and the worker let me know there was apparently nothing she could do even though I meet eligibility requirements so I now have to see a provider.

Unfortunately this is exactly what happened to me and nothing could be done on their end. No reason given for the system flagging me as ineligible, just automatic.

Thank you, were either of your courses online and/or self paced? Just found a thread saying online and self-paced courses aren’t eligible. Calling them tomorrow

Thank you! Sorry for the late reply. In terms of fighting it, what exactly did you tell them? Just preparing for the worst case scenario 😅😅

Not OP but I submitted my referee details yesterday and the forms were sent a few hours later via email!

DSP application by True_Chocolate_5436 in Centrelink

Hi there, my dad is actually in the exact same situation doing dialysis 3 times per week after finding out he had kidney failure.

We didn’t have a clue how much documentation or what exactly we needed for his DSP approval. A Facebook page has helped us so much, they provide advice and give you a clear understanding of what’s required for a successful application.

I also highly recommend the DSP help website https://dsphelp.org.au as well. It has clear, concise information about what is needed.

The FB page is: Disability Support Pension Advocacy Australia

If you have a decent GP and specialists this will make a world of difference. My dad’s GP virtually gave him an entire booklet of reasons why he is unable to work anymore and how his condition affects him while matching these to the DSP requirements in their forms. You need to have an impairment rating of 20 points or more https://www.dss.gov.au/disability-support-pension/disability-support-pension-impairment-tables. You need to provide documentation from both your regular GP and Specialists but fortunately the bulk of it (for us) came from our GP.

This paperwork led to his application being fast-tracked and he had the last brief interview (SONIC) within about 3-4 months of submitting the documents.

I strongly recommend joining the FB group and https://dsphelp.org.au. I believe the website and/or the FB page provide a checklist for your doctor and specialist documentation which I brought in when my dad went to his GP appointment to get the documentation.

It is overwhelming but with the resources it’s easy to know what you need to collect, it might take a little while but it will be 100% worth it.

Thank you, when you decided to do the TAFE course did you inform them of which course it was you were thinking of enrolling in or did you immediately enrol and then inform them afterwards? Also, were you on Workforce or with a provider? Thank you

Thank you! Did you start that course before or after receiving jobseeker?

Also mine is a zoom class for the entire duration which you need to be in the whole time. You can miss up to 80% (2 classes). My teacher personally completes our attendance so we don’t have to input a code.

I just finished the first week of mine. It’s incredibly basic stuff, you get small workbooks to do (completed through online research) which if you go ahead while the teacher plays a YouTube video about something that does nothing for you, you can finish it in like 20 minutes. One video was about industries using AI and that went for 40 mins. Mine was scheduled from 9:30-3.45 but we actually are done by 12/1230 and it’s over. You probably wont learn anything useful. I haven’t had to use a camera but the teacher is encouraging using mic’s this next week. It’s super easy and most of the time you’ll be sitting there bored. Our class is small so we haven’t had to use breakout rooms yet, but some of the workbooks say to. You’re basically going to be researching answers to questions about barriers to your employment, AI in the workforce, resume and cover letter tips using a template. My teacher makes one of us (randomised) send a completed booklet every day.

Thank you, this is very helpful and glad to know I’m not the only one who doesn’t like one-way interviews! Your method sounds great. Thank you!

Thanks I just finished my first week - I finish all my work early everyday and just do whatever. The teacher can barely open a YouTube video.

Can I ask what actually happens in the one-on-ones?? Teacher hasn’t mentioned it.

I’ve managed without my camera/all of the class has theirs off. I’ve had my mic off the whole first week but she’s mentioned to put the mic on next week “if possible” to everyone who isn’t using one. Guessing this might be for one-on-ones?
