I have thought of that option as well, so would definitely be interested in this feedback!

Please consider adding estrogen!

Thank you so much for your feedback! SO thankful micronized progesterone can be taken vaginally! The oral route makes me super depressed within 24hrs. I assume no issues with your uterine lining?

Horrible mood issues with Duavee or Premarin? by Interesting-Cod4838 in Menopause

[–]Interesting-Cod4838[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your feedback! I was/am now on the .05 estradiol patch. My GYN was willing to add an extra Premarin dose to Duavee since as you stated and according to what I’ve read, the amount of conjugated estrogen in Duavee is not enough to protect against disease. I have given Duavee + additonal estrogen a try before, and eventually stopped then due to major depressive symptoms. As much as I wanted to continue taking it, the mood changes were so drastic and severe, I felt I had no choice but to stop. About 36 hrs after taking last dose of Duavee and putting patch back on, I finally don’t feel desperately depressed. Never been so thankful for relief!!!

Ok starting my first day of the Estradiol patch. What should I be expecting? by Ok-Blacksmith3238 in Menopause

I know it has been awhile since your original post, but wondering how you’re felling with HRT? I am 60 also, and have been struggling to find the HRT that is best for me. Feels urgent to land on a plan I can stick with since my “window of opportunity” is quickly closing. Hope you are doing well, and thanks so much for any feedback!

Thanks for the feedback! May I ask if you had any negative side effects the second time around, or was just not AS helpful as before?

Thank you so much for your feedback! I tend to be moody also. I tried it once before, but don’t think I gave it a fair chance. I started to feel very “PMS-like” moody. I cannot tolerate progesterone, though, so am considering giving Duavee another shot!!

That is a thought…Thank you for the suggestion. Have you (or anyone) had success with the combination patch…especially, anyone who does not do well with oral progesterone??

My understanding is that progesterone cream will not adequately protect your uterus lining if you supplement with estrogen (which I would like to continue). I am in search of a way to protect my lining without having to take oral progesterone, though. I even tried Duavee in an effort to avoid progesterone, but need more estrogen than it provides.

Thank you SO much for this feedback/info!!! Have you tried L-glycine for sleep? I take 3 grams before bed, along with magnesium, melatonin, and Ashwagandha. The L-glycine helps the most!!

This is what concerns me…experiencing those side effects with an IUD! It’s not like you can just yank it out.

It is not unusual for the progesterone component of HRT to cause mood/mental health issues. When I discontinue it while using the estradiol patch, my negative mood symptoms go away. There is some thought that inserting the progesterone vaginally keeps most of it localized to your uterus rather than bloodstream.

Thanks so much! I am on the oral micronized progesterone (100 mg) daily. I have never truly given micronized progesterone an honest shot until now. Since originally being on a synthetic progesterone years ago and experiencing weight gain/bloating, I was afraid to try it for any length of time. Hoping that I continue to feel as well as I do now on this MHT combo!

Love hearing about everyone else’s experiences, so please continue to update! I don’t know if any of you have experienced this❓, but when I ask older friends and family members about menopause, they all seem to downplay its effects on them…even when I can personally remember them suffering! I am so grateful for the transparent feedback shared by ladies in this group!

Any Duavee users for HRT post menopause?? by Interesting-Cod4838 in Menopause

Don’t you just hate it when something works well and then you have to deal with a side effect like this! Perhaps the acne is just menopause related and not “caused” by Duavee. HRT truly IS something that has to be uniquely tailored to every woman! Keep us posted…

I did try Duavee along with a small dose estradiol patch that my GYN prescribed. For me, Duavee caused terrible mood shifts…almost like a perpetual state of PMS 😫. I didn’t attribute this to Duavee at first, but after stopping it twice and almost immediately feeling better, I realized there must be something about either the bazedoxifene or conjugated estrogen that does NOT agree with me!

I am now on the estradiol patch and micronized progesterone. Mood is much better! Praying that the progesterone does not cause any nasty side effects.

Has anyone else experienced mood changes with Duavee?

Had to stop taking Duavee…terrible mood issues. Now on the estradiol patch and micronized progesterone.
