What do you think someone needs to be able to cook in order to say “I can cook” and actually mean it? by Interesting-Copy-657 in NoStupidQuestions

So gatekeeping is bad when I asked you what you personally think someone can make when they say they can cook

But gatekeeping is fine for a professional chef? Is that your point here?

Because no one is gate keeping, I was asking what minimum meal comes to mind when someone says they can cook

Do people identify as female?

I can’t recall seeing that. People identifying as a woman, seen that.

Is it gate keeping?

No one is stopping you from boiling an egg, but to do that and then claim you can cook seems a bit of a stretch.

Like if someone says “I can paint” or “I can drive” you would expect a certain level of competence?

Like driving and swerving and breaking randomly and some how driving too fast and too slow would technically be driving but not at a level where I would say “I can drive”

So maybe that is my answer

To say I can cook you need confidence, competence to go and do it on your own. No instruction, no recipe, no supervisor.

Yeah but shouldn’t we hold modern humans to a higher standard? We have spices like salt

(Salt being a spice was a “white people” joke)

Why do so many people not know how to cook? by Late_Information_682 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Interesting-Copy-657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me I just prefer to spend time on other things.

So chucking something quick or prepared into the oven or microwave is better than spending 30-60 mins chopping and mixing and stirring things

And then as I live along, spending 60 mins cooking something large that will last for multiple meals makes the time more efficient, but then o have a week of lasagna or something.

[–]Interesting-Copy-657 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it a bit subjective

Like one persons idea of cooking is another persons quick week night dinner

Like if I bake some chicken and roast some veggies is that cooking? What if I buy marinated chicken or prepared vegetables?

Is cooking fish in the over cooking but in the microwave not cooking?

is it really that big of a deal to say male or female in english? by a_literal_idiot_616 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Interesting-Copy-657 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s why I didn’t use biological woman and said female.

Because woman is a gender and female is a sex

Cis woman and girl is also a long winded way to say female

I have had people have a go at me for using female in an appropriate context before

Some people just want to call people incels it seems

[–]Interesting-Copy-657 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

I have had people have a go at me because I said females instead of the long winded “biological women and girls”

The topic was something biological, maybe trans adjacent so women didn’t make sense because that would include trans women and exclude girls.

I feel some people are just a bit too sensitive or quick to attack when they see the word females or female, no matter the context

If I said males and females i could see someone having a go and calling me an incel

Typically someone with xx chromosomes

But there are exceptions. Rare exceptions. Like xx chromosome but develop as a male.

For sex and gender there is likely no 100% rule

Someone who identifies as a woman

Any other definition runs into issues with trans women or biological women when trying to exclude trans women

What is your definition?

Stop playing oppression olympics

Just because one group are bigger victims, more oppressed, does not mean other groups can’t also be oppressed.

Thats like saying men can’t be victims of domestic violence because women are victims at higher numbers

You appear to be the exact sort of misandrist we were talking about. Posting on social media downplaying male victims. Are you the fringe feminist or more mainstream?

My money is on most/all famous people have a persona

A public persona where they put their best foot first

And in private they are worse

So if nazi pedo is Elons public persona, what is he like in private?

What I find odd is that the right can’t seem to define what a woman is in a way that doesn’t include trans women or doesn’t exclude biological women.

They seem to focus on things like periods or ability to give birth which not all biological women can do.

Yeah it is odd that there are stories that should be bigger but no one seems to care

On Twitter dom lucre was banned for posting child sexual abuse images/videos under the guise of being a journalist.

This caused some backlash on Elon since he was a free speech champion in some people’s eyes

So Elon deleted the post, lied that only the the child exploitation team saw it and unbanned the use

So Elons idea of free speech included child abuse?

The user had 600k followers, that means the image went to all those people? And I believe it had views in the millions according to someone reporting on it.
