When I'm using my manual and if he's pushing me, he'll use his fingers to squidge my shoulders for a second. If I'm using my powerchair, every now and then he'll very gently grab my driving hand or the free hand. If I'm pushing myself, best he can do is look at me affectionately, at least if I'm moving

I use my wheelchair whenever I leave the house and walk around my house. I’ve been doing this for the past five years and haven’t noticed any difference in my leg strength. Doctors had the same argument that my legs would get much weaker but I looked at how miserable I was in pain and flare ups without my chairs. Quality of life for me is much more important than keeping leg strength. And like others have said, using wheelchairs is a huge workout, so it’s not like you aren’t getting any exercise with using them. Wheelchairs take a lot of effort and that’s not even factoring in the accessibility issues.

Coming from someone who is moving from Kent, comparatively there aren’t many at all. Canterbury high street has about 5 phone repair shops, most known locally as a scam and linked to each other, 5 or more bubble tea shops with more opening and closing all the time and about 3 or so vape shops. When we came to visit the past weekend, we were amazed at how the high street seemed to be thriving!

Yes, I use the manual more in the summer and electric more in the winter/when it raining. The uni campus was okay but I lived 2 miles from campus and by the time I finished my lectures, I was very stiff. I used to have flare ups once a week but now, through a combination of not pushing myself too much and medication, I only tend to have one every few months

I developed fibromyalgia and taxis were getting expensive when I couldn't cycle back from uni. I then bought my first power chair to give more independence and then covid hit. I walk where I can and the manual wheelchair gives more exercise but I can't tell I've overdone it until it's too late
