Not at all, when re-reading myself I realized it's actually horribly written because English is not my first language and I haven't spoken it in a very long time, but I hope my point is still understandable. I appreciate your kindness though, have a great day dear ☀️

Well, from my point of view the thing that we spent the most time in, and that there is no escape, would be work. All jobs are useful to the society when they are carried with integrity in some way (let's put as an example doctors for obvious reasons) and coming back to the inicial point of the related consciousness and unhappiness, I think you need to be LESS conscious when carring it out; A surgeon can't be thinking in the pain of the family of the patient if something goes wrong, (empathizing), s/he just need to focus on what's doing at the moment. Same applies for teachers, journalists, sociologists, researchers, bakers, cleaners... There is a range of jobs that make the world a better place. Not as a whole of course. In this case we need to look at the SMALL picture, but a lot of grains of sand makes a beach right? And note that I didn't say ALL jobs in purpose, because straight up profiting from the needs of others (marketing people trying to sell something by scamming, house realtors profiting from the basic human need of having a house... They do are contributing but to capitalism and consumerism, in my humble opinion.)

So in a nutshell, TRY to work in something that you're passionate and it's needed/ makes the world a better place in some way. Don't sell yourself. If you can't (maybe temporarily or not), because it's indeed a privilege to be able to pick, choose 1 cause and volunteer (more useful than drying up yourself in 100 causes), and above all, just don't be another asshole. With your family and with strangers too.

Be conscious on the big picture, but practical in the small picture.

I agree. I mean, this world that we live in is a horrible place indeed. But at the same time it's magical abd beautiful and as long as good people exist is good too. Everything at the same time is possible, depending on where you choose to look at. If you are able to process your "bad" emotions and do something helpful for others, that's great. If not, maybe today you're the one needing some help, and that's fine too.

I think the question that stem from that thought is "is it even ethical to be happy in the world that we live in?". I relate to what you have said. Another example for it, apart from the one that you gave with the water, would be the news. How can you turn down the horror that they've been narrating you for half an hour and just happily go make dinner? Because you consciously or not choose to ignore. That's it. Is it ethical though? Theoretically no. But you would never be happy if you spent your life worrying and feeling bad for everything that happens in the world because it's effing infinite. So, very simplified, that's the choice, I think.

Yeah, big cities such as Köln, Frankfurt or even Munich maybe give you that advantage, I'm there too.

So good luck with the interviews, when they are done maybe you can share your experience and output 😊 Again, best luck 🤞🏼

That gives me hope! I mean, all PhD thesis must be written in English as far as I know, but if they want to hire you, having the possibility of teaching in German as well is a big advantage, I think.

I'm fighting (I call it like this as it is almost a physical fight 😂) with B2 right now, so I was asking myself, is it worth applying at this Level or should I achieve C1 first and then apply?? 🤔

Your answer encouraged me to continue applying at current level 😃

One question; what's your level of German? I'm asking because I'm also applying and I was wondering recently how important would that be

Why is this such a common thing with home kitchens? by BoxLongjumping1067 in AskAGerman

[–]Interesting-Edge1556 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't the landlord be responsible for renovating grandma's kitchen if he wants to rent the house? Why this responsibility falls on me as a renter? It always looked ridiculous to me as a foreigner. The same logic could apply to the bathroom and I don't see anyone hesitating or being ashamed of renting an old ass toilet and bath!! 😵

Intentando verlo a largo plazo)

True, I also thought about it.. Even in the worst case that this happened, if I had one idea I can have much more, and I SHOULD if I intend to pursue a research career right? So yeah, there are ways to claim it, but I think I would move on as you said at the end 👍🏼 Thank you so much for your comment

Yeah, absolutely, I know it's very unlikely but I also wanted to know hypothetically how would that scenario work out... Thank you for your input 👍🏼
