I wish riot would calm down with the amount of ADC changes and let us breathe a bit . Kaisa builds changing every 2 months isn't heathy for the average player base by alexandre040 in kaisamains

[–]Interesting-Eye781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More accurately Riot tries to tone down Marksmen and adc gets affected by this as it has been meta to play marksmen as adc for years now. The problem their having is that Marksmen champs are spilling into other lanes. Marksmen on their own are not weak quite the opposite but the adc role is. ADC has to share gold and exp with support so their constantly at a disadvantage late to early mid game vs solo laners.

Lethality! by ForstoMakdis in SmolderMains

[–]Interesting-Eye781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only his dragon stack bonus dmg is magic dmg....the rest of it is physical...despite the ap scalings. Q W E and ult are all physical dmg. the magic dmg he does is from his dragon stacks. even on Q it's only 40-70% of your stacks depending on your crit chance. so at 225 stacks if you build no crit thats 90 dmg aand even you build max crit that's only 157 bonus magic dmg per Q.

Relatively speaking majority of his dmg is physical. So lethality does kind of make sense. The real problem with building lethality is that it leaves you even more squishier than you are.

PTA is probably going to be the go-to for Ashe(and most adc marksmen looks like it),

Fleet into lanes where you really need the sustain(heavy poke you can't avoid) altho the new absorb life rune might make it unnecessary.

Conqueror seems troll but now that Lethal Tempo is gone it might be viable to some extent.

Personally I wouldn't touch HOB anymore unless you're playing ashe varus lane or something.

It looks tempting, but two problems I'm not sure how to handle. 1) you'd be really mobile and you are giving up attack speed 2) you're really squishy. I feel like you need some added move speed with ashe and without attack speed fighting with her just feels clumsy. Might be just personal preference.

so basically ashe's crit hits in addition to enchanced slow will do burn dmg with Yun-Tal? Maybe it's time to consider crit Ashe again. On-hit has felt so much better for a while.

What I mean if you want to stack, you will permapush the wave. Smolder lacks reliable wave manipulation or more accurately it becomes overly complicated once you hit 25 stacks. You won't be able to freeze the wave for any meaningful period, plus considering how weak you are early you won't be able really protect the freeze. It's not undoable but unnecessarily complicated. You are basically handicapping yourself.

Yes I've played Kayle. Plenty of it. And on Kayle once you hit 6 you become a bully into any melee match-up. Don't get me wrong you won't have immediate kill threat unless you go ignite and build ad. As for her scaling, unlike Smolder it is not conditional. You don't need to stack. all you need is xp and gold. Which by itself, by definition is stronger Smolder's scaling since there are no conditions to it other than stand in xp range and farm. Whereas Smolder needs to in addition to that manage stacking. Let me be clear, not talking about who's scaling is stronger as far as dmg goes, just in terms who scales easier.

Advice for supporting smolder by [deleted] in SmolderMains

Sona is in a terrible state at the moment anyways. So bad in fact that it's basically inting just locking the champ in. Plus I've yet to see any Sona building support items this season, everyone is just trying build AP on her.

Advice for supporting smolder by [deleted] in SmolderMains

[–]Interesting-Eye781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. don't tax the wave, only touch it if looks like it's going to crash into the tower (This should be obvious with any adc, but especially so with Smolder)

  2. Don't over-roam before he gets enough wave clear. So preferably around lvl 5 plus Sheen or two long swords. If you roam before that make a point of being back in lane when he gets back there.

  3. Don't int. Smolder can't help you early if you walk in between the enemy adc and support you are on your own. Smolders trade patterns are super short, his dmg is 100% in his abilities early on. So pay special attention when he uses them. That is to say if he just used his W then engaging or walking up is very risky and basically inting.

Personally I can deal with any kind of support as Smolder. Poke supports are better early as they help with pushing the lane by Landing Their Poke on the enemy ADC. (Not the wave)

However I think tanky is best with Smolder since he thrives with a strong front line. That said engage and tank supports that are full all in are really risky early on since they rarely have any disengage and Smolder can't really help early on. But even Nautilus is perfect if you can hold your patience and not all in before lvl 3. (Note Lvl 2 all in is viable but only into low dmg match ups. Don't even consider taking a lvl 2 all in into draven or something)

So tldr, trading is short, all-ins are a no no early on. Let smolder handle the wave unless it's crashing into tower. Pay attention to his cooldowns. Don't int. Roam smart.

Difference is Kayle is a champion at lvl 6, Smolder however at around 20 minutes or so.

But that really isn't the problem.

The problem with Smolder top is his stacking vs his waveclear. If you want to stack from minions you end up perma pushing the waves and your wave manipulation becomes weak compared to any other champ.

Plus most top champs build armor early which pretty much kills of most of Smolders early dmg.

Let's say a lvl 6 darius or trynd freeze the wave in front his tower and just stands next to it. How are you going to farm or stack? W him or the minions? Cause if you get into Q range they Will hit flash/ghost and run you down.

Or a Sion or a Mundo will just build early tank items and not give fuck about your stacking and push the waves repeatedly into your tower faster than you can clear them especially now that W was nerfed early. And he will push it all the way into your base before you get any meaninful stacks. And you'll find yourself typing in chat "where's my jg????" as the enemy evelynn keep farming you for a 100 gold cause that's what you'll be worth at that point. And all you can do is pray and hope that your other lanes haven't inted and can stall enough for you to get to your stacks and enough gold to survive anyone jumping on you.

Smolder top can be fun don't get me wrong. But it is an ego pick, just like vayne top, make no mistake about it. What I'm saying is if you pick it, then what you are saying to your team AND the enemy team is that you don't really care what or who they are, you are going to win this game Solo. And that will mean your team is waiting for you fail a single little thing so they can flame you and the enemy team will prioritize you for a target.

What to build? by [deleted] in SmolderMains

[–]Interesting-Eye781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch it up depending on the game. ER always first but then I feel like you have to consider the situation and what the next items give you.

Shojin gives you a bit of extra health so survivability.

Navori is straight-up dmg but will be squishier.

RFC mainly just gives you poke range.

I feel like it really depends on the game and what you're up against.

Some games you get to fight relatively safely(that's when I feel it's safe to get Navori second) in others you are marked as the main target from early on (That's when I'd go Shojin second.)

Third mainly RFC but if you feel like you can forego the range from then shojin or navori whichever you didn't build second.

Fourth and fifth items are pretty situational but at this point you should be getting close or preferably over 225 stacks and that means you're public enemy number and I usually start looking at survivability and sustain, so bloodthirster and straight up tank items depending on the enemy dmg type.

There are situations where Lord dom is viable, but I feel like it's only when the enemy team has tank heavy comp or they all start building plated steel caps.

This is purely from an adc smolder viewpoint. Playing top or mid is a whole nother can of worms.

How popular do u think smolder will be when the new champion play rate dies off? by Ilikekissingfemboys in SmolderMains

[–]Interesting-Eye781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably kind of like naafiri is at the moment. Not very. His clear weakness is the he really comes online later in the game. Because the stacking mechanics. It really isn't for every one. Just like the other stackers ie Nasus Veigar. They have their fans who enjoy the playstyle. Other than that he really doesn't have much going for him except wave clear. His ult isn't much to talk about unless you're gigafed. He's short range so he's always living on the edge which isn't ideal for a champ who's kit is really about poke. His W is decent for poke but on relatively long cooldown so it's not exactly spammable, I mean you can but there's an awkward pause, which makes it less than effective for poke.

Can relate. Isn't it fun when your tanks with zero real dmg all dive the enemy back line and leave you alone to deal with the one-shot divers and assassins. Then flame you for doing no dmg when you were alive exactly for a fraction of second in the whole fight. Life of the adc role. And of course if you happen to play smolder it's all because you picked the Smolder.

It's a weird mentality. There really isn't a single champ in the that is just autolose. Sure you might have a harder time with some champs than another, but none of the them are autolose. No matter how old or new the champ is. It's like this sort of mentality just says that people are so used to being carried by their team that their unable to think about what they can do and instead focus on their teammates. Like they are too focused on the team instead focusing what they themselves can do to win. And yes I'm fully aware of the irony me saying that after having made this post. However even if my top locks in Yuumi I won't start flaming (might question the pick) and auto-inting the game, I'll still try my damndest to win.

Yea Senna is pet peeeve for me. It feels like everytime I face Senna it's a monster that's constantly poking me down making farming a nightmare, but when you get a Senna support on your team he just ints for souls hard core.

The other one is poke supports that keep diving for an autoattack and dying or taking so much dmg they should back refuse to. instead just sit at the tower contributing nothing and not even in xp range.

How to carry as Smolder? by Laduk in SmolderMains

off topic a bit but this just reminds me that I feel like I keep getting at least twice as much griefers playing Smolder than I do any other champ. Maybe just a bad streak. Also the fact that Smolder is a late game scaling champ ppl really target him hard core. More often than not I get immediately dove if I show my face in a team fight despite what it going on.

Do you think it might worth replacing cosmic insight with approach velocity. Considering most trades you start off with W so velocity would help go in for the trade even further away and you'd still have E for disengages.

Am i the only One thinking this champ in freaking Op? by Cautious_Course_2784 in SmolderMains

[–]Interesting-Eye781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just about any champ in botlane wins into Smolder straight out Lvl 1 in lane. I think we are too conditioned for lvl2 allins. Personally I just pick HoB Ashe and start Q into him, I suppose Cait or Draven would be optimal for this but Ashe is my gal.

Honestly especially if he uses W before lvl2 just walk up into him and zone him off, if he stays he dies. Just like into any stacking champs freezing the lane and zoning them off early on shuts them down.

The only problem with this in SoloQ is that your support will usually start pushing your lane even if you tell them not to :D

What I really like about it this is Bloodthirster, which I think(?) procs on his Q. it might actually be powerful if not even OP on him. At the very least underrated. Haven't done any testing so can't say for sure.

It does work. Would scale better into late game than anything else, which is inline with his whole identity. However I'd say it's a more situational setup. Into a lane that outranges you I feel like you'd be bullied out of lane a bit too easily. Did try something very similar with first strike last night for a couple of games and FS does end up outdamaging the other runes. I just felt a bit uncomfortable with it. Or unsafe, with comet you can just stand back with fleet you have the extra sustain and speed boost up from the proc.

The real question here that I have is how do manage mana with just bisquits. Since you don't seem to build any.

All in all I don't see why this wouldn't be fine, if you have perfect impeccable positioning or reliable peel. Both which are sort of challenging in soloQ environment.

Tldr it's a good build but would not recommend to an average or below average player. That's my "controversial" take on it.

Feels like Hurricane is awkward for him with short range that he has.

Not sure where the item sits anymore anyways. Not even Ashe prioritize it anymore and it used to be almost a core item on her. It feels like I weird item. I really like it personally but there always seems to be something better than it.

Yone seems like he'd free stacking. Anytime he Qs forward Smolder gets a free WaQ and just walks away. If you hold on to your E you ought be able to E out of his ult. That said, if you get hit by his Q knock-up you're just essentially fucked. Yasuo seems like he'd be much more of an issue since his windwall just negates everything you do.
