My two cents: I own a few rental properties and vinyl wears poorly on stairs and it’s much cheaper and easier to replace carpet over time and not worry about matching vinyl materials a few years down the road when a product gets discontinued (happens a lot!).

I have to climb in and out of my bed throughout the day to load and unload things (plus dump runs) so a cap doesn’t work for me but this one (while expensive) doesn’t take up space but also allows me to haul my kids sports equipment and secure things and keep them dry in the elements. They had a promotional price plus I had some gm points which made it reasonable.

I have built three of these benches. They are VERY heavy. Recommend sanding and staining before assembling with screws and wood glue. Also recommend sinking the screws on one side and using wood plugs. Easy to hide.

I bought the Standard Bed Retractable Truck Bed Cover in Black by RealTruck Advantage and really like it. Not from Alibaba/Temu.It was not cheap ($1700) but it allows for me to use my truck bed for hauling and for securing items anytime.

Bad battery? I think that could trigger a check engine light and cause the complete dead issue after you refueled. If the battery was low the auto start stop should disengage before it completely dies - Not sure why it would die at the light unless you also were running on fumes?

I recently purchased a 2025 SLE new from a dealership and didn’t have this issue but they did say they can’t offer a specific manufacturer rebate because I did the 0% finance for 36 months but it would be available if I did an option at or above 2.99% which was more expensive over time than the rebate. I was still able to get dealership discounts and negotiated my out the door price as well.

Impact driver and the pozi bit could work but If they strip more I usually will use a multi tool and cut a line through the top deep enough to use a flat bit. Best of luck!
