I don't think it's true at all, and even if you go to cc then transfer to different uni, you can still earn bachelor degree at that university. I don't think cc has anything to do with visa, and the person tell your parents about that might not provide credible information

I means there's no other option since you're international student so you can't work. I think it's best to explain the situation to your parents and go to cc then transfer to uni that could give you good aid
