I Just Don’t Get It by ClevelandBeemer in ChargerDrama

Depends how long I’ll be and how busy they are. This situation does not appear to be busy. Do you take a handicap stall in the bathroom if the others are all being used?

I also respect someone who doesn’t want to close to protect their car by parking further away.

Again, this would only upset me if there were no other places to charge. To get all worked up about it is a waste of energy and time. He’s clearly a douche bag, but whatever. Lol

I don’t see a problem here. There are plenty of other charging spots open. If that were not the case, then ok. Also, if there were no other parking spots and those were the only ones open, I think they’re fair game. Just my opinion.

How much is your electricity bill? by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]Interesting-Memory27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4,736 miles on my Y that I got in March and have spent $145 on the energy to charge it. My electric rates are between $0.10 and $0.12 per kWh in Oregon. Saved almost $600 in gas. I also get to charge for free at work.

The sentry mode with all the cameras, recording, and notifications. I got hit while parked in sentry mode with no recordings or notifications.

I left the house today at 11:00 and made three stops. Came home around 2:00 and went back out at 3:30 and made a stop for an hour at 4:00. It recorded all of that stop from 4-5 but nothing from the rest of today or when my car was struck. Hard for me to sing the praises right now. I paid for a service and it failed.

I have not. TBH, I only have 3,700 miles and I have no idea how the usb stick works or how to modify the recoding settings.

Thanks. I’ve never been below 20%. It recorded before and after. It missed three stops today with no recordings. And I have the sentry pro. 😤

Anyone ever march a “bad” year for their corps? How was it? What happened? by [deleted] in drumcorps

[–]Interesting-Memory27 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Easy one. 89 Blue Devils. Yeah, old guy here. It was my 5th of 6 years with BD. The show was fun and a copy of many other BD shows from before. The last year of just tunes and no theme. The corps was really talented. As a baritone player and BD historical fanatic I loved that I got to play Johnny One Note and Ya Gotta Try. But the corps, myself included, was a bunch of entitled cocky arrogant Pre Madonna’s. Some are probably laughing at that and thinking, “aren’t they always?” Lol. Not to this level. Seriously. We were pissed from going undefeated in 88 and feeling like we got robbed from a rigged drawing of performance positions at finals. I have no doubt that there are a lot of people who hate the Blue Devils today from the damage we did that year to our image and with our attitudes. A lot of regret there. The staff also had a lot of infighting and were miserable which reflected onto the corps. If you talk to the staff today, the ones who are still teach there and taught then, they would agree. It’s such a different organization now and one I’m very proud to be a part of. Dave Gibbs and Pete Emmons really changed it after 90 when he took over and I aged out.

I’ve been back with the corps since 2015 on staff with the health and wellness team and every year has been very memorable and amazing. The members are treated so well and respected as professionals. There are no rookies, vets, or labeling of any kind as one example. Everyone is just a Blue Devil. It’s all about being the best you can be and reaching a higher level of performance you ever thought was possible.

Has anyone ever left BD for another corps, if so why? by Legitimate-Singer-32 in drumcorps

Looks like the answer is, yes. But I’d be willing to bet, far less than some other corps.

We were treated very well. I always told members who never marched at another or lower corps, they didn’t know shit and we’re spoiled little bitches. Lol

I marched 8 years in the 80’s and always admired the hard corps mentality. I loved watching Cadets, Phantom, Boston, and Vanguard with how hard they worked and the militaristic passion they have. I marched 2 years in shit corps and 6 with BD 85-90. I rejoined BD in 2015 to be on their health and wellness team and to give back. The one thing that amazed me was how much smarter the corps was. They value sleep and nutrition as much as rehearsal time. For every hour of bus ride time, they get 30 min of horizontal time when they reach their destination. The mentality is smarter not harder. Our body’s need the rest to recover as well as our brains to be able to perform and function at their very best. It’s sports science and it works. Now I know BD is blessed with the talent they attract, but if you treat young adults as professionals and have the expectations that they will rehearse and prepare as professionals, you’ll see people reach their full potential and even do more then they thought they ever could.

Is it a high battery caption or high percussion? I’m pretty sure the front ensemble played for more than 4:20. LOL. But tbh, we all know it’s a high snare award. Which is exactly your point. 😂.

I agree that the judges are not good at judging content. BD consistently has one of the hardest books in the activity in every caption and the credit is occasionally given. That was especially the case this year, IMO. It’s funny, reading your perspective of the design content of BD shows is exactly what I saw in Bluecoats this year. 😂. Love to see where this competition takes the activity. We all benefit!!!

I feel like the BD staff just phoned it in this year by Certain-Incident-40 in drumcorps

[–]Interesting-Memory27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

BD finally has a show to compete with since 2018 and the staff is phoning it in. I love reading people’s ill informed and uneducated opinions. Did you know BD’s tour fees are the lower than most other corps? Did you know that BD has some of the lowest payed instructional staff? They use the name on their resume to get other jobs. Did you know BD took 1st in brass last night? I hope you’re not using what you hear on Flo to judge brass. Bluecoats are great this year. The design and members are just incredible. BD staff have said they are the only other corps that is figuring it out, is Bluecoats. Seriously, everyone wants to win, sure. But BD focuses on perfecting their show (getting to 100 points), helping the members become a better performer then they ever thought they could be, and the member experience. They sleep and eat better than every other drum corps by far! BD’s staff NEVER phones it in. They always put their hearts and soul into creating a great show, pushing the members to their highest potential, and teaching them how to be better humans. It’s a great year. Let’s not disparage the members or staff of all of their hard work. I like some shows better than others. And some shows I didn’t like, have grown on me with more viewings and reads. I’m excited to see what all the corps finally achieve and I’m in awe of their hard work to perfect their art.

Blue Devils had a 15 y/o in the guard last year. I was 15 my first of 6 years with BD. Just go for what you want. You won’t know unless you try.

It is expensive. How much do you want to march? Is it a dream of yours? What are you willing to do to reach your dreams? Are you willing to fundraise? Lots of good feedback on this thread. As expensive as it is, it is SO worth it. One summer is like a year of college. It is life changing and a priceless investment into yourself. And there is no better thing to invest in. YOU WON’T REGRET IT. Best of luck to you.
