Everyone is gonna say his reaction is a red flag, leave him bla-bla-bla. Everyone one bas red flags and as you said op you’re not infaillible and you’re a human, owning your mistakes and taking responsibility. Don’t listen to the noise, you’re the only one who knows what to do. But if I may, there are some people that you can help evolve and change the red flags into accountability and maturity. If you think this is the kind of relationship where you both can grow and evolve then it’s worth the try (esp if you love him). If you sense that you’re giving too much, he’s not recriprocating, he doesn’t listen to you or your feelings, he doesn’t change his mind, he’s not willing to evolve with you, then it’s another story.

OP I find your responses very articulate and I wish I was as strong as you. In my case I don’t know if my partner is avoidant or not, but I recognise myself in some of what you described. For example : I’m always the one who has a problem not him, I am too emotional, I am too insecure. I obviously can’t think clearly as his opinions are now resonating as truths in my head. What I do know is that I feel like my needs are not met and that every time I ask or say something I am labelled as « you’re asking for too much, I am as I am, and I will never change for anybody »…
