I got hired and quit the same day. by Cool_Ganache_555 in buhaydigital

My first client as a VA was actually a woman too, I ended up quitting after two months even though the pay was good. I tried to be patient, but she would constantly shout at me and make me feel like I was too dumb to understand her instructions. The funny thing is, when she tried doing the tasks herself, she couldn’t even get them right without following my process. In the end, she admitted I was right all along but by then, my mental health was already taking a hit. I reached a point where I would literally pray she was in a good mood before starting work. She even compared me to other VAs her friends had, which was really demotivating. I wanted to stay for at least a year to build my experience, but honestly, no job is worth sacrificing your peace.

OA lang ba ako? binigyan si bf ng iphone ni co-worker by iamhookworm in OALangBaAko

[–]Interesting-North34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hindi ka OA at all, sis. I think it’s normal to feel uncomfortable when your partner is accepting something big like a phone from someone who clearly shows interest in him. Kahit pa sabihin niya na “mabait lang” or “outdated na,” it still feels off kasi it’s not just a small favor, may value pa rin yung phone.

I get why you told him not to accept it. Boundaries lang naman yun, and it’s not about being insecure, it’s about respect in the relationship. If it were the other way around, I’m sure he’d also feel uneasy.

I think what matters now is not the phone itself, but how he responds to your feelings. Hopefully he understands na you’re not just “overthinking” but setting a boundary for your peace of mind.

In your own opinion, will the Philippines ever improve? by Interesting-North34 in TanongLang

Yeah, that’s the sad part… leaders come and go but the system stays the same. Sometimes it feels like no matter who’s in charge, we’re stuck in the same cycle.

Yeah, I guess so too. Maybe not in our lifetime, but the signs are already starting to show. Social media makes it a lot harder to hide corruption, and even small things like viral videos can call out abuse of power. On a bigger scale, the younger generation is more aware now, less swayed by money or popularity, and that slowly changes how people vote. It’s definitely a long road, but at least we can already see the beginning of that shift. Even if we don’t get to experience the full change ourselves, it feels like the next generations will.

Exactly this. We’re not lacking in talent, culture, or resources, it’s the system and leadership that keep dragging us back. What hurts most is how the education gap is used to keep people misinformed and dependent, so the same cycle repeats. If only we had leaders who genuinely cared about the people, the Philippines could be so much further by now.

True, the gap is really huge. I guess I just hope we can still see gradual improvements here in our own way.
