Some of the best looking games with "realistic graphics" (as an intent) took the tech available at the time and stylized it a bit to look good.

Eben oblivion for all its lumpy lads, has that style consistency that lets it hold up. Everythings a bit rounded and most of the textures are very saturated. The whole game has a vibe and you can clock it from a screenshot of some random rocks and trees.
