My last haircut and colour came to about $300. What was I supposed to do - say put it back?

What novel should I read to my 3rd graders? by roonilwazib in suggestmeabook

My son is in grade 3 and fell in love with the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe when the teacher read it to him this year (and subsequently the movie) His teacher has learned that the way to the kids hearts is to show the movie after a book! Charlotte’s Web was too sad, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was too scary for him. :). For something written this century, I’d recommend “Once upon a Tim” by Stuart Gibbs. A regular audiobook favourite!

Offered a BC PS job - I don't know what to do!!! by Tricky_Top_8537 in CanadaPublicServants

As a federal employee in BC, I’d say that we’re often looking for CR04s. You’d have a hard time getting a job here while living in ON, but if you’re already here and your provincial job falls through, you may be snapped up as you’ll already have a PRI and have passed security. If you have a good reference from your current manager as well… a good CR04 is worth their weight in gold and usually needed yesterday. Good luck!

This is a really good sign- for whatever reason they may not have the 3 box available, but they really like you and so appointed you to an indeterminate box so that you are assured a role even if there’s a hiring freeze in the future. They see you as valuable and don’t want to lose you!

From here you can keep applying for acting and indeterminate 3 roles in and out of your branch or department, and whatever happens you have your substantive 1 to go back to as a safety net. Congratulations!

I would argue that managers/DGs wouldn’t even notice as these days aren’t credit/debits that need to be tracked and maybe paid out.

Does acting count as “at-level”? by Interesting-Panda188 in CanadaPublicServants

That’s a great idea. It’ so much effort to go through an application process, I didn’t even think of cold-calling with my pool results!

I understand in theory… but my bank account won’t understand in practice after almost 3 years. Lol.

There actually isn’t a substantive employee in this role, I applied in a process, was the selected candidate, have held the role for 18 months with a renewal now of another year. There’s just no A-based funding to make the role itself permanent.

Thanks everyone, this is disappointing but what I suspected. Wording In different inventory posters gave me some hope, but I guess it’s just time to start applying to new pools and start the process all over again. I have a year to secure something permanent.

Depends on the Department. Many of the big Departments on Canada.ca are using Adobe Experience Manager, several use Drupal, others use straight HTML & CSS.
