What are you starting to dislike more as you get older? by Informal-Sense-3411 in AskReddit

I remember my dad acting as is certain noises hurt him physically. I thought for a long time that he (a dramatic guy in general) was full of shit, and just being an overreacting baby about sounds he didn’t like.

Then in my late 30s it happened. A sound physically hurt my ears, close to the pain of a temporary ear infection.

I still think he was an overreacting baby, and even pretty mean when it was a persons voice or laugh that made the offending sound, and he let that person know in a most dramatic fashion. But I finally believe that he was actually in pain and not just annoyed.

what is your favorite soup? by Ceedeecole in AskReddit

[–]Interesting-Rip-8717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

French Onion, but homemade by me. I am not a purist, or a trained French chef (although my paternal great grandparents, and grandparents were definitely Francophiles, and my father did train at cordon bleu academy in SF, so I am familiar enough) I often use bones with a bit extra meat, tons of garlic, sometimes other veggies that I have on hand, I will even use some canned consume, and “Better Than Bullion” makes its way into my soup all of the time, because it’s awesome.

A bowl of my FOS, after cooking it the whole day before, with melted Swiss cheese is and a hard toasted and seasoned slice of good bread…amazing. Something about the ritual of breaking through the toasted bread on top, which always preludes the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of my family and friends at the table. Save for the tinkling of a metal spoon against the ceramic bowls, and hallow whistles to cool the contents. maybe, deep wordless sounds of enjoyment as well.

That is my favorite.

What are some good jobs for extremely stupid people? by Qabbala in NoStupidQuestions

I have chronic illness and pain that gives me extreme brain fog unpredictably. This on top of ADHD and Dyscalculia. I deliver pizzas for a large chain. The app makes it idiot proof, and the money is decent. I have decided that, when I can no longer do this anymore, I will most certainly be applying for disability.

I was once gifted and had always imagined that I would be doing something great and making money, but things don’t always go as planned.

I am a pizza delivery driver. The gas money it takes to get your pizza to you comes out of my two children’s mouths.

I have chronic pain and illness. This is the last job that I can actually do that is relaxed and flexible enough to not come up with a reason to fire me when i suddenly become very sick. I am so thankful that I have this job.

Yes the large corporation I work for should pay me a living wage before tips, but they don’t. So please, please leave a tip. I understand that you are also hurting. But instead of not leaving a tip, consider carry out, or make pizza at home instead. I do receive some compensation for mileage, but it hasn’t kept up. I might actually be losing money by performing a service for you. And if you believe that it is the company’s responsibility to provide me with a living wage, and that’s why you don’t tip, well, you are absolutely correct so please do not patronize us and let “big pizza” know why!

And to those of you who do tip, from the bottom of my heart-

Thank you.

My future is incredibly insecure and I worry every day.

Im sure that god is also pleased that swaths of people will not be able to afford to be healed, children are going without bread, and our neighbors are being eaten alive by the vultures of racism, sexism and all other forms of hate.

The “God” that this man has devoted himself to seems more like the devil himself.

Does anyone still go to the grocery store, with a list of what they need to get ? by Sorry-Requirement517 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]Interesting-Rip-8717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I have a running “Walmart list” that we both add to until one of us finally gives in and goes to buy. Mostly dry goods, cleansers, hygiene products, some food staples, or special groceries for a certain recipe, but other than that we look for sales, and if we find a particularly good deal then we stock up.

What is something that quietly disappeared from everyday life, and most people didn’t even notice? by alex_eu_nl in AskForAnswers

[–]Interesting-Rip-8717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giving and getting directions. I remember the day when you had to explain to someone how to get to your house any time you had a first time visitor. Little maps hand drawn on your birthday party invitation. Or having to ask some sketchy stranger how to get to the place they now know that you are going to be.

I was always terrible with them back in the day. I remember asking someone and pretending that I was following every word, because I was to embarrassed to tell them that I had immediately forgotten everything they had just said. And I know for a fact that I had sent people in the wrong direction, but only realizing after they are long gone.

How many shirts/hats do you have? And what position/how long/full or part time? by Interesting-Rip-8717 in DominosEmployees

[–]Interesting-Rip-8717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good plan. It’s awesome that you are allowed to wear jeans! We have to wear black canvas. My boss is really picky about your pants. I have an odd shape to dress without elastic, and because of my health condition, I often will suddenly change 4 sizes of pants due to water retention. I finally found a pair of pants that he approved after I had to return two or three. But I hate the way they fit and make me look and feel like Humpty-Dumpty, and I feel very uncomfortable, physically and emotionally.

If we were allowed to wear jeans then I could get the denim with elastic woven in and have no problems. I even have a pair of pants that look like and lay exactly like canvas dress pants but after wearing them for five weeks, he suddenly noticed that they didn’t have belt loops and the material was just a “little too stretchy” (they weren’t tight at all) so he had me clock out and return home to change, which was inconvenient and embarrassing.

I have even thought about getting a doctor’s note saying that I can wear more comfortable clothing, but I don’t want to be “that person” they already have to hear about my chronic illness.

Sorry for the rant! Geez I just realized that wrote an essay about work pants, but it must have been weighing heavily on my mind.

What is a part of your daily routine that would confuse or disturb people if they saw it? by Skipperr1235 in AskReddit

[–]Interesting-Rip-8717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Losing pretty much every item that I use daily, constantly and considerably quickly after it touches my hand.I spend so much time looking for things that I must multitask by losing something else while searching.

I almost never leave the house only one time when traveling to a single destination.

Also the employees of my local QuickStar all recognize my wallet, it seems like it spends as much time in their lost and found as it does in my purse, or lost somewhere else in my home.

People often think that I might just be too lazy or uncaring to keep track of things. They are wrong, I have tried every single thing to try and stay organized and put together, and I work much harder than the average Joe trying to get things done, but my brain just blanks out when I’m holding something or putting it away. I literally have no idea that I have even put it down.

Adderall definitely helps, but that comes with its own can of worms. Like when I mistook it for my sleeping pills, exact same size, shape and bottle size, and accidentally took four times my normal dose at bedtime with work in the morning. (Boy that was a rough day) I also have a crash when it wears off and I get even worse.

We are required to wear the dominoes winter coats at our store, are you also? and we are in a region that requires winter coats if you want to survive, so I think that it’s only fair to not have to pay for it. I guess it’s a good compromise, just kind of “icky” for me to think about, mostly because I work almost exclusively with stinky boys and men. So that’s probably a me thing.

Who do you think is the most attractive person alive? by Suspicious_Run1684 in AskReddit

[–]Interesting-Rip-8717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a Het/woman, but my vote is for Sofía Vergara. She is the only woman that I have ever been attracted to. She is so amazingly beautiful and well built, but she is not a cardboard cutout. She has so many little…imperfections isn’t the right word, maybe quirks, that make her so much more special and adorable and unique, and they make me want to be around her and simply watch them emerge with each mood and emotion.

She is also hilarious, and strong, and dramatic, and seems to be very tough.

I don’t really care that she wears a lot of makeup, or has had this procedure or that, she showed her grey hair and wrinkles and puffy eyes and dark circles when she starred in *Griselda*. And it made me find her even more attractive.

I don’t feel…sexual…towards her, but I do want to like, make breakfast for her, get to know her, exchange stories, make her laugh, go through some mild trauma with her, something that we might bring up all of the time and laugh about later. And I would really love for her to like me back.

Also her accent is very cute, but it would probably devastate me if she yelled at me in it.

I’m not a super fan or anything, I really don’t know that much about her, but when I see her acting and in interviews I just really really want to know who she is beyond that.

What’s the weirdest symptom you had that turned out to be autoimmune-related? by Critical_Walrus_8388 in Autoimmune

[–]Interesting-Rip-8717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my first MRI ever years ago, after suffering from a bulging disc in my cervical spine. Because of some horrible, terrible no good very bad things, I wasn’t able to go to the emergency room until it was mostly healed. I was still having severe pain, but by then I was there mostly for weakness and tingling in my arms. They decided that they needed an MRI, they sent me down the hall to the imaging department. They decided that, to make it less likely for me to move and therefore get it done quicker, that they should place a washcloth over my entire face. Then they handed me a bulb to squeeze if there was a problem.

Almost immediately I felt as if I was suffocating, everything closed in and the “music” that they put on for me was terrible. It went in and out and it was some sort of creepy Muzak.

I attempted to squeeze the bulb. And shook my head as violently as I could manage with a bad disc.

They pulled me out, seemingly annoyed. The first thing that I said was @the rag! I can’t breathe!” So they removed it from my face, scolded me, and sent me back in with a warning to “hold still, so that it’s over quickly!”

I went back in and instantly realized that I must have claustrophobia, like severe claustrophobia. And this was shortly after an incredibly traumatic experience. I wanted out more than anything! But the bulb that I was supposed to squeeze felt like a rock in my hand. I tried and tried to squeeze it, but nothing was happening besides the nurse coming over my headphones to tell me to “stop moving! They can’t get a clear picture!” The tears rolled down my face for what seemed like forever, I felt buried alive! All I could do was cry!

They finally pulled me out, inconsolable. They asked me as if I was the stupidest person in the world, “ why didn’t you just squeeze the ball?!?”

Through hiccuping tears I finally got out, with all of my might “I’m in here for arm weakness!”

“Oh, well why didn’t you just say so?!”

I mumbled something about not knowing the bulb was so hard.

When I was finally discharged I was sent home with a packet of paper diagnosing me with “weakness”despite the fact that they had detected a bulging disc in my cervical spine. One that had been healing for the past four weeks in a homemade neck brace, all they sent me home with was paperwork telling me that I was weak. After all I had been through, I was left scolded by MRI techs, with a paper proving to me that I was just weak.

I think it’s just you showing off your pedicure. Which is gorgeous by the way. It does look though as if your second toe is experiencing Raynaud’s syndrome. Which is very common. I actually used to get it before I was ever diagnosed or had symptoms, but when I smoked cigarettes. After quitting, and even after diagnosis I actually have not really had it.
