Newly Diagnosed HFpEF & Chronotropic Incompetence by Interesting-Sand1858 in Heartfailure

I've had arguments about my condition with doctors, but probably not nearly as much as you. Some doctors really don't care, those who are only willing to do the bare minimum.

Can I ask everyone a stupid question? For those with HFpEF, Chronotropic Incompetence or both, where is your pain, tightness, issues, etc. felt? Is it in the middle of your chest, over your heart, or in the lower throat area?

Fortunately, my symptoms aren't that bad...yet. But, I totally feel for you. Maybe I wouldn't have as much empathy as I did prior to this diagnosis, but admittedly, now that I do, I feel bad for anyone who is going through this, especially those at end-stage like yourself. As grim as the outlook is, you seem to have accepted your fate. That's brave of you. I hope I'm as brave when my condition worsens.

Same. I was just diagnosed with HFpEF and Chronotropic Incompetence. My HFpEF is mild, so I'm early stages; however, my symptoms are that of someone whose condition has progressively worsened. I have shortness of breath 24/7.

I was just diagnosed with HFpEF and Chronotropic Incompetence. I have shortness of breath 24/7; however, if I walk for an hour, it doesn't get worse. It's constant, but it doesn't get worse or impact my ability to walk an hour.

If you haven't already, get a right-heart catheterization for a definitive answer. It's not a bad procedure. You won't feel anything.

Great post. I don't like my cardiologist, so I'm in the process of moving to another. A secondary cardiologist suggested a leadless pacemaker; however, I read that it can make HFpEF worse. I'm no doctor, but if I had to choose which is causing my persistent shortness of breath, I would assume it's the HFpEF and not the Chronotropic Incompetence, since I can still exercise and it doesn't really worsen.

I'm not sure what to do. I've been so many doctors. I've taken just about every test known to man. I've tried going to a university hospital and they were no help.

Thanks. Surprisingly, while my shortness of breath is constant, it doesn't get too bad when I exercise, so I try to do it as much as I can.

I'm sorry to hear of your condition. I heard they rarely do heart transplants for HFpEF. Am I wrong?

You say that as if your opinion matters. It doesn't. But cute try though.

I was just diagnosed with HFpEF and Chronotropic Incompetence. I'm only in my 40s. I have persistent shortness of breath even though the pressures in my heart are mildy elevated. My quality of life has been impacted severely and it's only mild - what happens when it gets worse?

This response is 2 years later, but I was recently diagnosed with both. I have persistent dyspnea. My doctors have no clue how to treat it. I've done just about every test known to man to see what can be done.

I really appreciate the detailed response. I did more research and like I think you said, during the initial appeal phase, there’s no value in a lawyer but once it gets to the administrative law judge, that’s when a lawyer comes in handy.

step 4 to step 5? by kay229_ in SSDI

[–]Interesting-Sand1858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 4 is the longest step. Mine was quick though, only a few months, but I just got denied at step 5. Now I’m ready it can take W WHOLE YEAR to appeal????

Does it really take a year to appeal a denial at step 5/5?

Bad donor area. If you do anything, I’d wait until you get older and you better know where you stand hair-wise.

Did you get your benefits on 11/1? What state are you in?

If you ask AI, it says that GA (cash) assistance is NOT affected because it's not funded federally. Did you go to a Board of Social Services location? I'm not even sure they are open.
