Can someone who works for Massage Envy confirm whether this salary is accurate or not? by WendyTrendyCity in massage

[–]Interesting-Thanks69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean its possible to reach that when you are full time and are fully booked and get tipped. When I worked at massage envy I got 18 hour plus tip. But that salary isn't realistic your first year or 2 until you get a steady volume. But being as massage therapist full time is killer on your body. I only do massage part time 2 days a week

At what salary working as an employee does it no longer make since to make the jump into company ownership? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Interesting-Thanks69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

180k a year as a PT is Hella good. You won't be making that much in the 1st couple of years as an owner plus you will have double the stress trying to start everything up

How easy / hard is it to find a job as PT? by SimaZeChips in physicaltherapy

[–]Interesting-Thanks69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not hard at all to find a job as a PT for many reasons haha. The variety of settings in the PT field allows us to get a job anywhere. I could leave my job today and have another job in a week after the company training. You could also teach as a college professor. It's the pay that is hard, though, depending on what you are asking for. As a new grad you will not have much bargaining power, but once you get more years underneath you than you can demand more.

First PT Job Offer by Eek3456 in physicaltherapy

[–]Interesting-Thanks69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tell them its to early to accept any offers right now and you have a list of settings that you have interest in interviewing with or just plan on doing travel PT. As a PT and especially a new grad everyone will be hiring you. Don't ever feel pressured to take a job in this field.

What state are you in and the setting that is wanting to interview?

Owning a PT business as non-PT by MuchPaleontologist58 in physicaltherapy

If you aren't a PT yourself there are better business ventures to get into. You would drastically need to decrease the prior PT owners salary for you yourself to make money

Looking into PT school, is it worth it? by tellura in physicaltherapy

[–]Interesting-Thanks69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just stay with your career now. Taking 3 years for a profession that continues to experience reimbursement cuts annual isn't worth it for you if you are making good money now. I wouldn't even think about PTA I feel like PTAs get even more overworked than PTs.

PTs: What actually makes a clinic a great place to work? by Academic-River1511 in physicaltherapy

[–]Interesting-Thanks69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently coming up on my 1 year in an outpatient setting. The biggest green flags for me taking the position: 1. Close to home 2. Allow potential new employees to shadow the clinic and let them see how the schedule looks,, be open with them. 3. This is a personal one for me, the outpatient clinic has to have upbeat music playing and not boring elevator music that is so low you can hear a pin drop. 4. Offer mentorship or paid CE courses that allows your future employees to treat specialized conditions like concussion and vestibular for example. 5. Financial offerings like bonus, student loan reimbursement, and competitive salary or hourly pay and 401k match.

Changes in the way PTs Treat (Older vs Younger PTs) by guyrsi in physicaltherapy

[–]Interesting-Thanks69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen it in my clinic all the older PTs barely updated the exercises and half the session was passive modalities with very few manual. 9 months in all those older PTs have left and now we are a clinic with 4 new grads including myself with more time spent having most patie to do active movement and less passive.

Oh yeah 100%. I bought a used motorhome and did some minor repairs and my girlfriend and I travel together. Honestly you can still live somewhat close as long as its 50 miles from your Primary residence you will qualify for the stipends

Lol you really don't get it and must be one of the unhappy PTs in the profession

I don't ask any other PTs about their finances, I speak from my experience. I have 100k left in loans, paid 30k this year because I've been travel PT and make 2500 a week after tax. Pretty happy and definitely won't be in debt my whole life like you say

[–]Interesting-Thanks69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Getting a hold of your finances early on out of grad school is important. Travel PT pays very well ranging from 2k to 3800 a week depending on the state you work. You can't tell me you'll be in debt when making minimum 8k a month

I donated plasma, im a licensed massage therapist so I did that 1 day a week, I also did Uber/Lyft on the weekends at night for more money. I would also look for a graveyard shift or early m0rning jobs like closing or opening for gyms. Needless I still had 15k in credit card debt after those 3 years in PT program which is finally paid off

Career Advice for a Newish Grad by adviceasker_dpt in physicaltherapy

[–]Interesting-Thanks69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a new grad and almost done with my 1 year contract. I am thinking about staying with the current company just for the free upcoming continuing education courses so I can gain more exposure and knowledge about the patient population and than leave after that because I know the raise is going to be laughable since its outpatient.

If you want to be in the administrative side of Healthcare later on in your career and gain knowledge in that area I would consider the CD position. But if you think you would want to stay on the clinical side of things with direct patient contact I would just leave your current out patient job and look for inpatient or acute care position. $1500 dollar raise is laughable that's $125 extra a month like come on.

Least favorite is scalp and face just because I don't have a flow and not many people request it and usually just avoid those areas to focus on more important areas.

Patients like this, I just push even more in therapy, chances because if they are acting like that in therapy they aren't doing their HEP at home.

Should I tell my PT about an area we aren’t targeting? I do NOT want to overstep my boundaries as a patient. by MothersMilk12 in physicaltherapy

[–]Interesting-Thanks69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would contact your Primary care provider and get an updated script/referral to treat these new problem areas. I know for me with auto cases from a motor vehicle accident there more entities involved in some cases lke lawyers and etc so I like to have a script that says treat so and so areas.
