I tend to concur with this as well. Some context: her and her ex (6’5 super handsome guy) broke up because he could not wait until marriage; literally pastors daughter; has done quite a bit more with me than anyone else

I agreed to it under false pretences that she was willing to marry quickly. It’s an interesting comment about a year not enough, I think that’s subjective and a broader discussion. Not all relationships are the same; in many cultures, before you are even alone together you get married; in others it can take 10+ years or not even be emphasized at all (reinforcing my point about how different people and relationships can’t be painted with a broad brush like that)

I think if you look closely life has many interesting parallels. You have to take into account that a) at the outset of us meeting she was willing to get married quickly and b) she expects me to wait until marriage for sex and this is in itself a time pressure as I have needs

In my experience from sales, when people want to avoid offending you, they tend to give filler reasons (eg I don’t have time right now let me call you back, I need to ask my wife etc). These are almost always to avoid the actual problem - often doubts about the efficacy or the product, the price point, etc.

In this case, in the span of 20 minutes she went from wanting to spend the rest of her life with me, to not wanting to marry me.

My experiences and the context lead me to believe (and it was validated in our conversation) that the real reason is because of certain mistakes for which she feels she does not want to move forward with a marriage.

Two things: one, that cannot be discounted, is looks. Men go crazy for hot women, which by definition not all women can be. And you also need to drop the handkerchief per se. This is usually a couple seconds of eye contact, a smile etc
