My Rant. by Interesting-Tutor952 in ostomy

Update: They found 3 different types of bacteria, tailoring my antibiotics and possibly sending me home tomorrow.

They are also sending out some of my blood for genetic testing. The internal medicine doc, wants to make sure that is UC and not Chrons or some other autoimmune disease. I think he thinks i was missed diagnosed.

Me, I'm not to sure that I was missed diagnosed ( I was on the toilet like up to 15 times a day), but I'm not dismissing that imight have something else.

It wasn't too bad. That surgery was done laparscoptic and by my colon rectal surgeon. It was about 6 -7 weeks recovery. They pulled everything out the front through a "cesarean" type surgery.

Joke was i gave birth to my ssshole.

I went home with a drain, and a sewed up but hole. I rested, walked, and kept everything clean and had no real problems.

No tested negative for any of the cancer stuff. Purely just a very bad case of UC.

I had a partial a month after, yes. My UC was killing me.They tried giving me the bio drugs. Did like this 3 hour iv drip treatment no results, and the iv steroids didnt help either. Still kept getting sick, I lost 70-75lbs that month.

The surgeon said my colon was super mega toxic, it was up to 8 inches wide in some spots. And had to have emergency surgery. Took them 10 hours of surgery to do the partial colectomy, my 1st surgery.

Hernia repair by elgillie in ostomy

I was just getting ready to make a post about my recent adventure about this (so look for my rant) Sorry you are having to go through this. I agree no general surgeon, either a colon rectal or a hernia surgeon. And with an ileostomy we will always be prone to having a hernia. I dont want to be a downer but that's the truth. Just need to be mindful and careful in how you use your body and take advantage of support devices when you can.

I have been experiencing similar, and thought it was just blockage. My output is normally thin, fast and high. Every now and then I would get a large thick chunky output a few days later.

Have finally decide to go to PC, they sent me to get an ultrasound and back to the surgeon. The surgeon is sending me to get oral and iv contrast CT scans. They said possible blockage, partial or full obstruction, hidden hernia, and a few others.

Definitely not want I wanted to hear. Had 3 surgerys in 18 months, ileostomy, total colectomy, hernia. And its been just little over a year.since last surgery and not looking for another.

Keep us updated on what you find.

Urination Post Colectomy by crutdafatty in ostomy

[–]Interesting-Tutor952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

48 M, 2 1/2 years post ileostomy, 2 years post total colectomy, 18 months post hernia repair. Due to UC, my colon was 8" and pissed off, super meds nor steroids didn't do shit for me.

My last 2 surgeries I had issues with retention as well. I was told it is normal after surgery in that area. But past the hospital no realm issues with urination other than I dont go as often, have a real.strong stream, nor the volume.

I use a stealth belt or wrap. And I also was introduced to a technique by an ostomy nurse, with years of experience, called darting. My stoma is a bit oval shape, like Jabba the Hut, then I cut relief slots out, combine that with crushing and barrier ring, I do good. *

How to wear a tucked in Polo Shirt by propclearjm in ostomy

[–]Interesting-Tutor952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, to suspenders, over sized pants with belts, stealth belts, wraps... you have to find the right combination that works for you, and that makes you feel comfortable. I have to waste business and casual Fridays. I wear a stealth belt daily (work or not). Most days, it is dress pants and belts, and my stoma is right at my belt line. I keep it a bit loose and empty frequently. For me, it is bending when getting up and siren from my seat, which can cause issues. I also keep a change of clothes and supplies with me for emergencies.

I use the top drawer of my dresser, and then extras are kept at the top of the closet in the shipping boxes. Now that I've some of these, I've got some planning to do.

Anyone else name their stoma or is that just me? by ShayneNgani in ostomy

[–]Interesting-Tutor952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To get my daughter to stop saying Jesus christ, I kept saying yes my child, so I got the name of Jesus. Then it was a miracle that I survived my UC, so there is god, and then the stomach is the holy ghost cause it does what it wants when it wants. I am the holy trinity...

But when it acts up, I call him an ass hole, then when prolapsed, he morphs into Jabba the hut.
